Hi there,

Your depression needs to be controlled. I think this is what the basic problem is. Please do see a physician for this. You need to go in for regular therapy also along with any medication that the physican prescribes.

Along with this exercise. Do simple stretching exercises for 15 minutes at least. Walk for at least 30 minutes everyday.

Try some simple breathing exercises. Sit straight or lie down straight on your back. Close your eyes. Take deep and slow breaths, hold for 2 seconds and let it out. Do this for about 10 minutes and then repeat a few affirmations such as "I believe in myself", " I am a confident person", "I think positively" etc. Work out about 20 such afirmations and repeat them. Repeat these affirmations to yourself before you fall asleep in the night and also before getting out of bed in the morning. Do this everyday.

Go out and enjoy nature. Smell the flowers, look at the trees, hear the birds, breathe in the fresh air. This in itself will help you increase your confidence.

Listen and enjoy music. Sing along with it. You do not need to be in tune or be a good singer for this. But it will help in your pronounciation and also help you feel good.

If you cannot verbally say your thoughts, start by writing them out in a diary. Write about anything and everything that you think about, everything you feel, everything you would want to do in your life. And also work out a plan for yourself.

Get involved in activities that you like. Maybe painting or writing or anything fun.

Also dont beat yourself up about this. You are 20 years old and rememeber most 20 year olds go through tough times since they are in the process of trying to find themselves out. So be positive. Try to look for ways to resolve these issues than to run from them. Believe me crisis is what makes us stronger and better human beings.

I hope this helps.

have you said this very thing to a doctor? im pretty sure they would take you very seriously. for example you may have aspergers (a form of autism). What about your parents do you speak ok with them? f so then your problem is confidence. There is a drug called seroxat its a type of anti deppressant and is for people with extremely severe `social` problems. i.e, theyre way too shy to speak with anyone at all for any reason. please see a doctor and let us know.

Is your depression being treated? If not, please have that treated first. Make sure you get a good physical examination as there may be an underlying physical disorder.

Good luck to you. I hope you have some family members who can assist you with this.
