Josephus was born a couple of years after Jesus died and he though that Emperor Vespasian would be the new Messiah. He does mention Jesus but can it be proved to be more than hearsay?

Tacitus and Pliny the Younger wrote about early Christians.

The Babylonian Talmud written somewhere around A.D. 70-200 says;
On the eve of the Passover Yeshu was hanged. For forty days before the execution took place, a herald . . . cried, "He is going forth to be stoned because he has practiced sorcery and enticed Israel to apostasy."

Lucian of Samosata also writes about what he's heard from early Christians.

The bible has 27 books in the new testament that document jesus. Just because they are all put together in one 'book' doesnt meant they are not all individual books. there is many outside of the bible also that prove Jesus lived.
The real question is wether Jesus is The messiah or not.
Which i believe he is

God Bless

Never mind slave to jc, the Quran he is writing about is a false translation of the Quran.

Trust me, THERE IS NO JESUS IN THE QURAN AND NO JESUS IN ISLAM!

Any Muslim website you see Jesus is an un-Islamic website.

Jesus was Two Thieves Crucified after Christ was set free by the Romans who loved the innocent man who healed the sick, raised the dead of the ancient days of backward medicine (today this is done by Paramedics) and he fed the hungry. He was therefore the ideal God of the Time and Christians today should worship Paramedics and the Salvation Army and Doctors without Frontiers.

AMEN!

Yes the Jewish historian Josephus writes about a man named Jesus who did magic and had the crowds follow him and who was crucified. Josephus was not sympathetic to the Christian cause and saw Jesus as a trouble maker. I doubt any modern historian nowadays deny the existence of Jesus it's the Christian claim that he is God that seems to be causing the debate. Jesus definitely lived and died - it's the claim that he rose again that is the stumbling block to the world. So nice to see you honestly searching for the facts. Very few people are brave enough to challenge their own beliefs.

I have never seen contemporary document ( supposed time of Christ) that collaborates the story of the existence of Jesus. The Romans were meticulous records keepers, no Jesus is found to have been executed for sedition or offending Jews, or treason at the supposed time of Christ that I am aware of.

Here's the source on Josephus, though I must admit it's a rather critical page--although it's critical in a scholarly aspect, simply trying to find the truth of the matter. http://members.aol.com/fljosephus/testimonium.htm

There is nothing that mentions "Jesus" other than the bible.

Josephus' works have been discredited. The fact his words were edited to include references to Jesus is proof that the Jesus story was a myth.
