Custard is a (hopefully) thick and creamy sauce made from cornflower, sugar, salt, annatto, milk and "other flavorings" according to the can. It can be made from a powder like I have or it can be purchased ready to eat. I know you can make it from scratch but don't know how, besides as long as you buy a good brand like "Birds" I don't think it would taste any better if you did make it from scratch.
It is a wonderful comfort food served hot over any kind of fruit pie, it can be served over stewed fruit, with chopped banana pieces in it, or cold, as part of a trifle.
I come from England and my kids, all born and raised in the USA think that it's just the cat's meow.

Custards are thick, creamy and sweet. The flavor depends on the kind of custard. I don't find custard terribly exciting, but is a wonderful comfort food, if that is what you are looking for.

You just made me get a really ewwy feeling in my stomach & now I have to think abou not gagging. Verry eggy, kinda bland, it is better if the person who made it uses a fair amount of cinnamon or nutmeg, however it is still just the wrong kind of texture for my palate to appreciate. Comparison: I also cannot stand meringue toppings.

It's bland, kind of tasteless and has the texture of pudding. No, I don't like it, unless it's the base for a yummy pie like banana cream or coconut cream.
