I saw a special about muslim women having a problem with this tradition and they said because the men are lusting after the women during prayer time.
If this is the case the men should be put behind the barrier.

They are pissed off not because they want to see the men, they are pissed off because they are behind a wall not able to hear or see what is going on. Who wants to go to a movie and sit behind a wall and listen to it only?

The women don't go to mosque because they don't feel welcomed at the mosque. So therefore they don't need a larger room.

For those who gave me the thumbs down. This isn't something I've made up on my own, it is a real tv show on Link.
Is this not a valid question? Is this not happening in most mosques? I see people who like to hide the truth can't handle questions without getting ugly and angry at my question.

This is not the exact practice of the early Islam any way. At time of prophet Mohamed (SAAWS) there were no such barrier inside the mosque between women and men, only men in the front rows and women in the back. When number of muslims increased so much, later Khalifa thought to make separate place for each (not women behind in the bad sense of the meaning) to give both sides the commfort and ability to concentrate and devote themself more deeply in the prayers...

Women are usually in a section reserved for women only, the men & women are usually separated by a curtain (if it is a small mosque). They can still hear the prayers read by the Imam.
They are treated specially & shouldn't be seen by men.

It's kind of like when a jewellery store like Tiffany's keeps their most precious jewellery inside, somewhere safe and not seen by just anyone.

i am Muslim women and this report is totally misleading most of facts let me say why :
1- we ( Muslim women ) are not putting behind barrier ,it could be a special room for women in the mosques or a very wide place for us it depends on the size of mosque itself
the only condition is that we and men can pray side by side to each other CZ this would make Muslims ( women and men ) don't focus on the pray
in pray we should totally concentrate on pray to Allah ,have you ever seen Muslims`pray ?
if you have ,you would understand what i mean ,
we aren't having any problem with that and men aren't lusting after women during pray ,its not the case
let me give you some sites to help you to get the picture

tomato, tomaato. if u want to think that men should be behind the barrier, then men ARE behind the barrier. in any case men and women are to be kept seggregated at Mosques, otherwise Mosques will become a lovers' cafe, where men and women will come to mingle NOT prayers. also, its just Not fair to say that only men lust, also women may lust as well. so to kill this lust, both are kept separated. Peace to All.

They are not actually 'put' behind a barrier. A mosque is sectioned off with women on one side and men on the other.

It isn't that unusual among fundamentalist religions, including some Christian sects. The Shakers did this. The Amish do this now. The Catholic Church used to do this. Jewish fundamentalists also do this.

Remember, before you make untrue statements about the Jewish religion that I'm talking about fundamentalists here, not the Jewish reformed sect. The Jewish Reformed don't do this.

They are not behind the barrier, they are just separated, but they always have the smaller room or area because the number of men going to the mosque are double the women.

in Jewish traditions too, women and men have seperate places of worship. so should that be the same way?. also what was the special u saw?.

EDIT: Islam was the first religion where there were Female Imaams(prayer leaders and teachers) and Scholars(Hazrath). and it were muslim women who gave the first Hadith ever in history of mankind. they had the right to properties and witness. why TODAY, IN FAR EAST AND WEST women give Adhan and Bayaans. actually initially women and men had no barriers when they prayed. but then there were married women (mothers and old women) who wanted to pray at home -- so they asked permission to pray staying at home. and there were prayers exclusively that were help by women Imaams even in days of early Islam. and i think women always tend to prefer to stay, share and talk openly to women rather than men. and men like to do their activities and their talks with their peers.

the Mosque i go to is not separated by some big wall.. the women are in the back and there is small partition that separates halfway across room.. we can hear and some can see..
because of the positions of prayer , it is best for woman to be to the rear...common sense..don't you think??
its all about modesty.. i see no problem with it

Salam (Peace), i ask your self why you're inquiring for evidence about some thing you understand ways it might want to be done!!! you're speaking about inequality in Muslim Mosques even as there is not any this kind of challenge in Islam and in mosques. keep in mind, a study through a pupil or a pupil should be purpose to get its credibility and yours does no longer look so in any respect, because you already jumped into conclusions that Muslim women individuals are dealt with unequally in mosques!!! And as someone suggested right here, any non-Muslim can write u in the call of Islam and tell u lies. therefore, it develop into extra perfect for you if u bypass to the mosque on the point of the position usa and ask Muslim women individuals promptly. and that i visit guarantee it, the in elementary words answer you receives is that there is not any discrimination in Islam or in the mosques (till you imagine that placing apart women individuals from adult males in prayer is a discrimination, and right here i'd answer you through saying who wins or lose in this separation because they're both break free one yet another? the position is injustice in this?). we do not bypass to mosques to seem for boyfriends/girlfriends yet we bypass their to wish and study our faith. not in any respect do a research on a particular faith through asking human beings on line. bypass out and ask human beings promptly and study. V.S. SHHBETTY, you're this kind of huge liar. each and every Muslims is happier to make friendship with a converts and attempt as a lot as to be on the point of them because they favor help more suitable than all and sundry else. there is not any distinction between a born Muslim or a convert, and to inform u the reality, the convert might want to correctly be a lot extra perfect because he or she used their minds and regarded for the reality and not in any respect in simple terms believed because they were born Muslims. you could ask converts right here on line and they are going to tell u how they're dealt with. Peace

In that religion, the men are the dominant sex and if you think about it, in a warrior, desert culture, it makes sense. Besides, it's been done that way for hundreds of years, are they going to change now becuase a few women are pissed at not seeing the men during their time of prayer?
