Funny that you should ask. The Lord has been putting on my heart Micah 7.
Do not trust a neighbor; put no confidence in a friend. Even with her who lies in your embrace. be careful of your words.
For a son dishonors his father, a daughter rises up against her mother
a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law
a mans enemies are the members of his own household.

I am always amazed how God's Holy Spirit directed the His prophets to write the Bible. I seems that he made sure that the important things are easy to remember. In the last part of 2nd Peter 1:21, it says, "holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Spirit."
The very question you ask is one of the important questions God made it easy to remember where it is. When the Bible is divided exactly in half, verse wise, the verse in the center of the Bible answers your question. It is Psalms 118:8. It says, "It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man." Also there are other texts, such as, Psalms 146:3. Is says, "Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help."
If your question stems from the thought, who do you trust, because of all the different view points on what it truth, then God answers that in John 14:26, "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." God also goes on to say in 1John 2:27, "But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. We are counseled in 2nd Timothy 2:15 that we need to, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
Remember the most important thing is found in the first part of Psalms 40:4, "Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust,..." You can pray this short prayer of help found in Psalms 71:1, "In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion. God will answer you and lead you to truth through the guidance of His Holy Spirit.

God bless you

I believe it is in Psalms that is says "Some will trust in horses, some will trust in chariots, but we will trust in the name of our God." Which means just about the same thing. Besides, human nature is evil, who would trust a human who wasn't influenced in a good way.
