Islam is abt forgiveness. there is just so much forgiveness emphasized in Islam, that i fear i will run out of words. if any person accepts Islam, all his previous sins will be forgiven, and he will start a life as that of a new-born baby. when Muslims go for, five times prayer a day, all sins (except for the seriously major ones) are Forgiven b/w the period of two prayers. if a person asks for forgiveness with the sincerity in heart and the resolution for Not to commit any particular sin again, he is forgiven for that sin. if a person sheds one tear in grievances of his sinful life and seeks forgiveness sincerely in his heart, ALLAH (GOD) will forgive that person as though he never committed any of the sins. i m afraid, i can't tell u all abt forgiveness in Islam, if u really want to know all, Read The Holy Quran, and u'll come to realize just how much Forgiveness is mentioned in Islam. Peace to All.

why we have to feel fears about them? Islam only emphasize forgiveness if the person forgives you.. but if the person doesnt want to forgive you, you have to recieve your punishment

Yes.

Some verses from Qur'an:

1. [6:12] Say: To whom belongs what is in the heavens and the earth? Say: To Allah; He has ordained mercy on Himself; most certainly He will gather you on the resurrection day-- there is no doubt about it.

2. [6:54] And when those who believe in Our communications come to you, say: Peace be on you, your Lord has ordained mercy on Himself, (so) that if any one of you does evil in ignorance, then turns after that and acts aright, then He is Forgiving, Merciful.

3. [39:53] Say: O my servants! who have acted extravagantly against their own souls, do not despair of the mercy of Allah; surely Allah forgives the faults altogether; surely He is the Forgiving the Merciful.

4. [42:30] And whatever affliction befalls you, it is on account of what your hands have wrought, and (yet) He pardons most (of your faults).

5. [16:119] Yet surely your Lord, with respect to those who do an evil in ignorance, then turn after that and make amends, most surely your Lord after that is Forgiving, Merciful.

6. [67:12] (As for) those who fear their Lord in secret, they shall surely have forgiveness and a great reward.

7. [8:33] But Allah would not punish them while thou wast with them, nor will He punish them while they seek forgiveness.

8. [16:18] And if you would count Allah's favors, you will not be able to number them; most surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

9. [33:35] Surely the men who submit and the women who submit, and the believing men and the believing women, and the obeying men and the obeying women, and the truthful men and the truthful women, and the patient men and the patient women and the humble men and the humble women, and the almsgiving men and the almsgiving women, and the fasting men and the fasting women, and the men who guard their private parts and the women who guard, and the men who remember Allah much and the women who remember-- Allah has prepared for them forgiveness and a mighty reward.

10. [5:39] But whoever repents after his iniquity and reforms (himself), then surely Allah will turn to him (mercifully); surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

I don' think so...it emphasises punishment and is constantly asking for good deeds by threats of punishment and not love.
