Your current symptoms suggest a new problem, rather than anything to do with your previous surgery other than the fact
your knee appears to have been injured in the past.

Not knowing exactly why you had the surgery you could now have a bit of arthritis or have a completely new problem.
Either way--a trip to your Doc and a new x-ray is in order.

It could be a torn meniscus, tendon, ligament or a slipping patella (knee cap).
Pain and swelling are warning signs that something is wrong--again I encourage you to get an x-ray.
This site expalins a torn meniscus and a good picture of the knee.

I know how painful it is--I have two bad knees--have had that surgery and am now going to be getting new knees as they are bone on bone.

It's "sporadic," NOT SPARATIC, and "arthroscopic" NOT OTHOSCOPIC, and something is WRONG with your knee at this point, that might or might not be related to your previous surgery of 4 years ago. You need to go to your orthopedic doctor asap, as it could be any number of things from a tear, to an infection, to something else. Get to the doctor NOW! Do not wait, as the longer you do the WORSE it will get. You should NOT have waited THIS long!

I had a knee surgery 20 years ago. In cold days it aches for few days. It happened probably five times since then. I wish you feel better soon.

Girlfriend....get to your ortho dr. ASAP!!! I'm in the same boat...i was doing physical therapy for my back and then my left hip started hurting REAL bad AND my right knee got all swollen...just out of the blue, like you. So i go to this ortho dr. and he took x-rays and now i have to have a total hip replacement and just had an MRI on my knee.......i have to go get results next week....so here i go again..........surgery.....UGH!!!!!! A THR and possibly knee surgery.......last yr. i had to have 2 major back surgeries and i lost 2 inches in height and i believe this just threw me ALL OUT OF WHACK and that's why my knee is like this...it's a mess and i hope you don't ever have to go through all the *&*###@ i'm going through.............good luck and get to the dr.
