To gain weight its very simple, intake more calories than you burn in one day.

If you burn 3000 calories, intake 4000 calories. OK?

3000 calories is 3000 calories is 3000 calories. Doesn't matter if it's 3 big mac's or 20 yogurts it's all relative. To gain weight you should intake 500 more calories than your daily caloric maintenance. (the amount of calories you burn in a day) First find out what your maintenance level is, because more times than not it's not the 2000 calorie diet that you've been led to believe. (as an example mine is ~3900 calories) After you find out what your maintenance amount is start looking to ramp up your intake to around 500 calories over. 3500 calories = 1 pound so if all things are equal you'll be increasing 1 pound a week. You'll need to be spreading your meals out throughout the day because you're probably not making your maintenance so getting used to intaking that much more food will take some time getting used to. (one hint is to use whole milk to help increase calories)

After you have your diet in line where you think it should be you should also be lifting weights. Low rep, high weights are in order to put on mass. Cardio should only be used for warmup (calories lost from cardio will have to be re-ingested to keep your intake levels high) Look at Rippetoe's Starting Strength, or Bill Starr's 5x5 programs (google) to get the routine.

Doing a "clean" bulk is more difficult than doing a "dirty" bulk, just due to the availabilty of junk food. You'll be wanting to intake anywhere from 1-2 grams/pound of protein and 2-3 grams/pound of carbohydrates. I'd also look at keeping fats around the 150 gram mark. With a solid workout program, the right diet, and plenty of rest and water you can see amazing increases to your mass.

Good luck.

If you eat more calories than you burn, you will gain weight.
In order to learn the number of calories you burn a day go to this site:
http://www.weightlossresource.com/tools/metabolism-calculator.cfm

and enter your weight, height, age and gender, and it tells you your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) or the number of calories you burn in a day, without exercising.

Since fat is the most calorie dense, high fat intake will probably help you accomplish your goal without have to feel like you are eating non-stop.

Thankfully, not all fats are the same. Fatty foods do not have to be super unhealthy -- avocados/guacamole, peanuts, almonds, other nuts and eggs are all pretty high in fat, but aren't hydrogenated fats -- which is what is so bad for us.

Even by changing the fat content in the milk you drink should help. I know doctors suggest people lower the fat in milk to diet, so the opposite should work for you.

Best of Luck! :)

It may also be because you have a high metabolism.

If you are looking to gain weight I suggest do it the healthy way. Increase your carbohydrate intake...dont go to mcdonalds that would be putting muck into body!

Otherwise, generally as you age you naturally gain weight. Be thankful for staying at a consistent weight :)

It depends upon exactly what you eat. Continue to eat healthy but if you want to gain weight, add things like milkshakes, ice cream, bananas, and all types of healthy, high calorie foods. Lucky you. Most of us have to cut out those things to keep from gaining weight.

Actually, that will depends on the amount of food and what kind of healthy food you eat!

It's easier to gain weight eating unhealthy but... you won't get the healty and good figure that you might want..... It is possible to eat healty and gain weigh..... but you have to eat more and more often!
FIRST: You should read the nutricional information of everything that you buy... As the increasing metabolism diet to loose weight that makes eat 5 or 6 times a day, You have to do the same here, but with different amounts and kind of foods.
You don't have to stop eating your green vegetables and fruits, that is very important to gain mass in a healty weigh, still eat a lot of them....
You have to focus your self in PROTEIN, and in the good carbs... it's hard to eat protein without eating fat but you can reduce it a loooot and burn it with some exercises

Eat a lot of meat like chicken breast, fish and lean beef, that's important for protein... ...
You got to star eating lot of Pasta, for example, eat spaggetthi, but use a healty sauce, don't use that greasy meat or sauce people usually do, you better prepare it with some fresh tomatos mushrooms olive oil, and all those kind of things.... Why people thing pastas are not healty is because of the sauces or meat that comes with... so, the pasta with a healthy sauces is something you should eat for good carbs....
Eat lot of Potatoes (not fried of course) and white eggs (without yolk because of the cholesterol) with no oil!,
PROTEIN, to feed your muscles and make them bigger...comes from meats Principally and green vegetables.
CARBS, you need them to have energy and feed muscles too. from pasta, from fruits....
FIBER, whole grain cereals and bread, oatmeals....

Don't skip foods, eat 5 times a day... and so protein can take effect you got to divide the protein consumption into your entire day.
If it's heart for you (like is for me) to eat this heavy food five times a day, try buying low fat supplements like shakes with LOT of protein.

If you do exercises, eat lot of protein one hour before and between 0-60 minutes after your workout the sooner the better... and during your workout use energy drinks.

I forgot, drink a LOT of water,
Hope this info helps you!

eat more carbs...whole wheat pastas, breads, and brown rice is healthy but can also help pack on the pounds. protein rich foods are great for building muscle too. just slightly increase your servings, and it should help. :-)
