My back is fine, as long as I don’t subject it to sudden overloads. Do you know of any chronic back sufferers who have no problems living a rugged, physically active life – or who do physically demanding jobs, or even participate in professional sports? Thanks.

I also suffer from chronic pain, i have been dealing with this for 4 - 5 years now. I have been on social security disabilty because of it. I have herniated cervical discs which have caused stenosis (Spinal Arthritis) and I have degenerative disc disease, peripheral neuropathy in my feet and severe hip pain. I have just recently been told that I may have lyme disease which could be the cause of most of my pain.
I hurt so bad at times I could barely move but I was determined to try and get better. I started walking and at first I could walk more than 5 minutes, now I can walk for miles. When I started I had high blood pressure and pre-diabetes. now I have neither and I've lost 50lbs and counting. While my pain is still fairly severe it doesn't seem to be getting any worse and I definately feel better. If I could/can do it I feel anyone can. No, it is not easy but concidering the alternatives it is worth it to try.

I wish you many pain free days and good luck in whatever you decide to you.

Don't know if this is what you are looking for but I have had chronic back pain (L1,L3,L5 fractured).
Also have crushed every rib on my left side and have had my rotator cuff repaired. These have mainly been the result of mountain falls, boxing, karate and 10 car accidents were 7 vehicles were totaled. All but one I was able to walk away from.
I recently returned from 18 months working in Iraq were at times assisted in the loading and unloading of 18 wheeler. Also returned to some boxing and weight training.
