Lucifer was always the devil even before he was cast to hell because he was jealous of God and always wanted to be better than God.

Lucifer was not cast down to hell yet, but to this earth because fault was found in him. He wanted to be like the most high God, he wanted to be GOD.

Lucifer done this to himself by being jealous of Jesus position in Heaven. Lucifer was once the choir director of heaven and had a awesome voice and talent to lead out the angelic choir; but this was not good enough for him; he envied Jesus who was next to God. This was his downfall. This lead to hated red and the master deceiver (Lucifer) convinced to take 1/3 of the angels from heaven when God cast them out to this earth for their disloyal-ship/disobedience. That is how Lucifer became known as the Devil/Satan/Evil/Evil One/ Dark One/ Dark Lord/Dragon {Bible} to name some. This is the result.....>>>>SIN. That is why we have him to deal will on this earth to temp us to sin to keep us out of what once was HIS HOME>>>HEAVEN. He knows he can never have it know more and he knows he messed up BIG TIME and there's nothing he can do about it now. He is just out to seek out to get all he can to suffer his fate>>Hell Fire! I for one do not want to be one of those...hope know one here does either?

this question is just one of the many reasons why i'm not a christian. how can you still be a christian after giving this question any though? -- surely you can't think that freewill explains it. things only happen because something else causes them to. if no evil existed at the time, then nothing would have tempted him. -- and as for pride and envy/jealousy, how could bad things like this exist BEFORE evil existed?

you've asked a very good question here, but you shouldn't expect any good answers because there aren't any.

I guess a little competition excited God too...so he put him down and is actually having his fun with Lucifer. Its like...show the dog a bone and make him run to get it. To have this sorta fun God needed to first make evil...so he did. This sounds cool...a little naughty God!

God enabled Satan to experience evil, otherwise, our lives wouldn't really prove much, eh? We need evil in the world becuase God wants to see how many people are smart enough to see what good he can give us.

Pride and jealousy. Just as when the angels came and told human wives, angels are flawed and have emotions.(genesis 6:1-2)

L did. God gave us all the power of choice. L made the wrong choice and now we all have to suffer. Thats why Jesus died on a cross to save our sorry butts and to give us another choice to make: forgive and forget,

He is Vain
He wants to be God like and wanted a place beside if not above God
The Devil himself put himself where he is by his vanity
