Start at one spot and work your way around the room. I'd take a garbage bag into the room and sort out garbage first and then work on clearing off one surface at a time.

Pick a beginning and work to an end.The entrance is usually a good place to start so you can remove anything out the door if its in the way .

take a garbage bag and enter your room and throw out all garbage, old papers, mail etc....
then take bed linen off and put in washer and start washing them....
look at your room and pick all items that are out of place back where they belong, books, music, nicknack's, clothes, hang up or in drawers....gather all dirty laundry and take to washer [ to wash ] put sheets in dryer and start next load. go back to room and dust all furniture, window sills, baseboards, check for cobwebs, remove webs with a broom....if mirror or windows need cleaning , clean them..........if you have a carpet, vacuum it or if you have floor, sweep and mop it...check the washer and dryer, when sheets are ready remade your bed, and put clothes back where they belong...if you have a private bath, please leave the shower/tub first...take a break and drink a soda or water.. now back to work. and finish the bathroom, air out both room and bathroom for a while and you are done congrats.........
