This applies particularly to the heavyweights.

There's no such thing as the 'linear title'.

That notion is based on the idea of 'the man who beat the man.'
That would work if every champ beat the guy before him, but in the case of the heavyweight division, two guys retired undefeated as heavyweight champ: Gene Tunney and Rocky Marciano.

Logic thus dictates that from Tunney onwards, it has always been the 'consensus' champ that is the legitimate one.
Am I wrong?

Luke F - that's your grade point average? I fear for the future.
Listen genius, this is a boxing forum, so if the words 'Hagler', 'Holyfield' or 'Tyson' aren't part of your answer, I suggest you hit the road and watch your conspiracy cartoons.
All regular contributors to this forum - Brent, Santana, smitty etc...- go into this kid's questions and answers and see how stupid he actually is.
Then tell your friends.

There is no linear title if you look at each weight divisions "linear title" history there are some great boxers who were better than the so called "linear champions" that never fought for the so called "linear title". Boxing in some ways is a subjective sport that's why we're able to have these discussions.
That man needs to confine his opinion to the appropriate forum for that type of discussion and I would be more than happy to debate him in relation to his answer.

I love how you can't answer any of the questions I ask, you just attack me personally. Do you deny that Silverstien said the building was pulled? Did you even see the collapse of WTC 7? Are you aware of the power downs prior to 9/11? Are you aware of the basement explosion? Are you aware that there are visible squibs 20 floors below the collapse point. Did you see the 45 degree angle cuts on the steel? Did you see the molten mental flowing out of the tower before the collapse? How did so much concrete turn into powder. How did the buildings fall at relatively free fall speed? Did you see the first Bin Laden video? Did you see that the initial hole in the pentagon is only 16-20 ft in diameter? Did you know the only evidence found of a plane was an engine approx 3 ft in diameter, a 757's diameter is over 8ft. Are you aware of the dozens of fireman who stated there were bombs going off in the buildings. Do you know who ran security at the towers? Did you know that a number of news sources including BBC have interviewed hijackers and reported that 5 terrorists are still alive? Are you aware that none of the the hijackers are on any flight manifests? Where was NORAD for an hour and forty minutes? Have you read about the drills that were going on during both 9/11 and 7/7. Have you ever read the PNAC documents? Did you know that the Gulf of Tonkin Incidnet was staged? You have not given any of evidence to support your answers, so why would anyone think you are credible? The fact of the matter is that you need to do some research. If you want some sources you can use read the NIST and Popular mechanics report. I will them show the proven inconsistencies in them. What is your problem with the truth. I don't know why I even bother with ppl like you. By the way, i have a 3.8 at PSU in my senior year, so I am not a moron.

Riddick Bow gained all three championship belts form Hollyfield. He was stripped of two of them by the organizations. Which ever one he kept is the true linear title.

I always thought the problem with boxing is that they have so many titles it is almost impossible to keep track.
