She got married, and had sex with her husband. All normal. But she did not have sex with her husband until after she gave birth to Jesus.

Jesus' earth dad was a carpenter. hence '" the carpenter's son"

Mary commited no sin in having sex with her husband and she did not become any less "pure" becuase of it. She was an awesome woman who was given a responsibility. thats all

she never was told she was to be worshiped later.

she was never told not to have sex after she gave birth.

Mary was a virgin when God caused her to conceive:

Matt 1:18 This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit...

She was married to Joseph, but they didn't have sex until after the birth of Jesus which is how Jesus came to have brothers and sisters:

Matt 1:24 When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. 25But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.

Matt 12:46 While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him.

For the person who said that Joseph and Mary never married, that's wrong. When a man and women were "betrothed" at that time, that was as binding as a marriage. Later, after God told Joseph it was ok to take Mary as as a wife, Matt 1:25 clearly says he "took Mary home as his wife".

She was engaged - not married.

18-19The birth of Jesus took place like this. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. Before they came to the marriage bed, Joseph discovered she was pregnant. (It was by the Holy Spirit, but he didn't know that.) Joseph, chagrined but noble, determined to take care of things quietly so Mary would not be disgraced.

20-23While he was trying to figure a way out, he had a dream. God's angel spoke in the dream: "Joseph, son of David, don't hesitate to get married. Mary's pregnancy is Spirit-conceived. God's Holy Spirit has made her pregnant. She will bring a son to birth, and when she does, you, Joseph, will name him Jesus—'God saves'—because he will save his people from their sins." This would bring the prophet's embryonic sermon to full term:

Watch for this—a virgin will get pregnant and bear a son;
They will name him Immanuel (Hebrew for "God is with us").

24-25Then Joseph woke up. He did exactly what God's angel commanded in the dream: He married Mary. But he did not consummate the marriage until she had the baby. He named the baby Jesus.

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a Virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. (Isaiah 7:14)

Unfortunately, this is all a misunderstanding. The term "virgin" appears in the Greek translation (the Septuagint), but that is not correct. The original Hebrew word, ha-almah, really just means "young woman." The word has no meaning beyond what we find in English with "young woman" or "maid," but it was translated into Greek with the word parthenos, which means virgin.

The Hebrew word for that, if that is what the author had meant to say, would have been bethulah. The phrase in which it appears, ha-alma hara, means "the young woman is pregnant." It is worth noting here that this phrase is in the present tense, not the future tense - rendering it an unlikely prophecy.

In his book Orpheus, Hebrew scholar and critic, Salomon Reinach wrote that:

"As early as the second century B.C. the Jews perceived the error and pointed it out to the Greeks; but the Church knowingly persisted in the false reading, and for over fifteen centuries she has clung to her error."

The Bible talks about Jesus brothers including James. So Mary was a normal woman who had other children with Joseph after Jesus was born.

She was a virgin and was pregnant....that is why Joseph considered leaving her...but it ended up being Jesus that she gave birth to by immaculate conception. Later...her and Joseph did have children of their own.

She did not marry Joseph. She was betrothed (engaged) to him, but they never married.

By the way, Joseph was much older than her. She was a teenager when she was betrothed to him, and he was already an old man who was a widower and had grown children older than her! She was betrothed to him so that she could live under his protection, since she was of an age where she could no longer go on living in the Temple, but her parents were already dead and she had no one to look after her.

So to sum it up, yes, she was (and is) a virgin. In fact, the Church calls her "Ever-Virgin", since she was a virgin before, during and after the birth of Christ. Not only that, but she was/is the purest of all virgins because she was virgin in body, mind and soul. She never had any sinful thoughts or inclinations, and her virginity was absolutely perfect and complete in the eyes of God.

yes she was she was mad pregnet by the holy ghost before she meet Joseph. God reviled to him in a dream that he would meet and marry her and that she was pregnet but that it was the son of Christ not of man. no man on earth could have fathead the only pure lamb that died for our sins if man had fathead him then his blood would have been tainted and there for he would not have died on Calvary for us. we are all sinners the on man that ever lied and will ever live on earth that was free of sin is Jesus him self. watch the passion of Christ if u have not already. its very powerful and very true to how it al went down. in fact there is a part where they show a lady handing Jesus a cloth and he wipes his face with it , it leaves his bloody face print on it. Did you know that that same shared of cloth skill exist to this very day. its in some Catholic church some where its true look it up on the Internet you will see. so u tell if u believe because that's very important for your salvation. u have to believe in the virgin birth and that Jesus died for all our sins including yours. that's the key to forgiveness
