Flush it for her! It's not that big a deal.
You should be proud she actually goes on her own at that age. And remembers to flush half the time? That's great!

I have a 10 year old who still doesn't flush! His issue is laziness.
Your daughter might have an issue with losing "a part of herself"(the #2) and having it go away when she flushes. Maybe you could get her "Once Upon a Potty" or some other book that has to do with potty training, just so that she sees that everyone else flushes.

Miss P don't worry about it. I clean an elementary school and some of the 4th - 6th graders forget to flush #1 or #2. If she is already flushing at least the #1 then I'd say she is ahead.

I read that young children have a difficult time flushing the toilet because it scares them that a part of them is being flushed away.
If this is what is going on with her then you should not push her to flush. For now, concentrate on praising when she does flush. In time she will flush regularly.

Definitely encourage her to flush it. Tell her why you need her to flush it down (all the yucky bacteria). Umm... maybe you could start a "STICKER CHART" to where you/she can choose stickers to put up when she does flush (if she understand specify the #2 only part) , and when she reaches like 10 or so? maybe she can earn a small prize (something she'll enjoy), maybe like ice cream or a new coloring book?. ... Make sure that when you go to "FLUSH" for her that she sees you do it, but still encourage her to do it as well. ENJOY! And GOOD LUCK! :)
** Note: I did work as a CNA... we had a elderly man who'd FORGET to flush or even go to the toilet... so ... seeing as he LOVED chocolate... we rewarded him everytime he flushed/went to the toilet. He definately enjoyed this factor! It made him remember at times, and at times we'd have to remind him so he'd finally end up doing it on his own (w/a reminder) and we still gave him the chocolate as long as he did it on his own. It worked wonders for this man! :)

Shes doing very good so far, so be patient. Just make a game of it..or don't let her leave until she has flushed. My niece will flush most times but she doesn't like to wipe on #2s..its getting annoying.
good luck

This may sound a little funny, but it's true. Kids have a hard time with this because they feel like they are losing a part of themselves. Poop is so solid that they feel like a piece of them is coming out. And it's hard for them to see that piece of them go away forever. Show her that when you poop it goes away too. When she poops, let her look at it and kind of "say goodbye" . Tell her that when she's ready, she can flush it and away it will go. This info is from a very respected, highly regarded pediatrition named T. Berry Brazelton. He has many videos on problems of all kinds for kids of all ages. I highly recomend them. This is from " Toilet training and you" You can find all the videos at your local library. I did this with my daughter after I saw the video, and it worked like a charm.
