plz help! My friend Susan is Muslim and wears hijab. She likes a non Muslim guy and I think he likes her. Anywayz in Islam intimate relationships are forbidden (no kissing, going to night dances etc.) She can talk on the internet and meet with him in public and maybe double date. Here's my question; would you guys give up the physical part of the relationship for the mental part? There's so many girls...would u waste your time on a girl like her when u cant even kiss outside marriage? Btw, she is pretty, smart, funny, white, cool etc. Thanks! Sorry this is a lil off subject but just answer ASAP.

Hey, I am a Christian, but I really commend how the Muslim's deal with relationship. Having been in a relationship that recently got way to intimate, I wish I could undo it and take it back. I would say absolutely go for dating that person and ya it may suck at times but in the end if you marry them you won't feel like you missed out on anything and if you don't marry them, then it's way better in the end. Now the more difficult thing might be the fact that you have different beliefs which I think should make up a huge part of a relationship especially if one person feels strongly about it.

What about the simple issues of sexual compatibility? How many marriages have failed simply because once married, one or other partner decided that they weren't interested in sex, or, had different preferences?
There's nothing wrong with sex before marriage, so long as it isn't just a case of quick sex with no involvement. A stable couple who intend (probably) to marry in the not too distand future are quite capable of having a "responsible" and loving sexual relationship.
As for religion forbidding it - well, religion came before contraception and, in the past, an unmarried woman with a child was looked down upon. That shouldn't happen nowadays so where's the problem.
In any case, along with regulations like no sex before marriage, who obeys the rule of not mixing cotton and wool? who lets their hair grow according to the rules in the torah? There rules were intended for primitive, backward people. Maybe the people who still believe in them ARE primitive and backward (mentally speaking). Come on folks, we live in the 21st century. We don't want to retain a 2000 year old (or more) lifestyle.

I know...I'm a gal...but may I please say something?

Kissing and such prior to marriage is highly overrated. The moment that begins, the learning process of each other ends.
There is no muslim marriage that suffers a lack of either, and certainly no lack of intimacy. There isn't a muslim marriage I know of where both parties are NOTjust totally happy in that way.
So, why would you consider it a 'waste'? Marriage should be thought of for a lifetime. If every girl allowed just pre-marital intimacies, wouldn't she become quite desensized in that way?
Wouldn't you rather know every morning of your life, you were waking up with a woman who did NOT feel that she was wasting her time by waiting until she could say she was your wife? Think about it carefully...It might be the best investment of your life.

Ofcourse........Islam is all about respecting women. If a guy needs to kiss a girl and sleep with her before marrying, than this is equalent to test driving a new car before buyiing it. I am sorry, but GOD gives women huge respect and status and they are not to be treated as commodities. I think that people out there should respect this.

However, it would be advisable for her to ask the boy to covert to avert conflicts about childern's faith later in life.

See this is an other big difference among ISLAM and other religion see how
Islam give respect to women and how they prevent abuses how ISLAM teach everything
Which ISLAM teach it has a big reason for human welfare try to think that ISLAM prevent kisses and abuse relation before marriage it has a logical view because if you make relation before marriage this act less mutual and sexual attraction so ISLAM insist and prevent of this noun sense ( but may be in other religion this abuses right may be they have logic) ISLAM IS VERY BEAUTIFUL (NOT ONLY RELIGION) WAY OF LIFE
IT VALUED HUMAN

Sure I'd date a woman like that. It would be hard though and I don't think that I would be able to date for over a year without thinking of getting married. It would be hard for most but it all depends on what type of guy he is and whether he is willing to wait.

I personally would not have a relationship with her BECAUSE of her inability to break the bonds of dogma. I do not seek the physical in a relationship until I get to know and care for the woman in question.

Freedom of thought is of the utmost importance to me and you can not be free to think when you bind yourself to dogma that is not applicable in modern society.

I also need to ask why you believed white skin was an attribute that needed to be mentioned to increase her attractiveness?

I would not voluntarily give up any part of a romantic relationship, leave alone for a religion. Now, the question is would Susan give up someone who could be the love of her life, for a religion?

Can we turn it around and ask your friend what sacrifices she is prepared to make for a relationship such as this. For example, is she prepare to give up Islam for the love of a fellow human?
