The idea that he had to rest prorves to me that man wrote the silly book , like all scams for profit. Another slice of realism. If your god knew that he was the one and only. Why have the first command say that thou shall have no other god but me. Was he insecure. NO those are words written by men, and xristians follow them like school children . Mother nature gives and nurtures life and will take it away, but she has something far greater then heaven instore for us. See you in the next level. Come that cerain date we will all rotate.

So you believe in "Mother Nature"? and yet you dont think a supreme creator(God) created us? many Christians believe the creation story in the bible to be metaphorical, and no other gods before me means that you shouldn't create false gods and worship them over God.

Nice philosophy - too bad it's not real.

First of all, God is not subject to time. Time is a temporary phenomenon of a fallen universe to which man is subject. God is the Creator and transcends all things. So for God, the act of creation was not one day, not six days, not six milliseconds. It is a past/present/future pre-eternal reality because He willed it and wills it -- and God does not change. The fact that the Bible talks about six days of creation is a reflection of how mankind observes this act of creation - not a reflection of God's abilities.

Number two: God's rest on the seventh day - the Sabbath - is not for God. God doesn't need rest. It was for mankind, and was a prophetic act to pre-figure His incarnation, crucifixion and resurrection and in particular His three-day burial and descent into Hades to free the souls held captive there. So the "rest" described in Genesis is a first indication of the infinite love God has for his highest creation, man, in that He incorporated man's salvation into the very act of creation from the beginning.

As for your other comments, I can understand your misconceptions because basically, most people in the modern world are completely ignorant of the true Christianity, what it teaches, what it means, and the depth that it contains. You see it as a childish rule book, assuming it to be something quite different from what it is, and unfortunately never even scratching the surface of its true meaning.

Isn't it interesting that God's schedule was a 7 day week just like ours? Perhaps He was setting an example for us. Perhaps He was saying, work six days but don't be a workaholic. At the time God gave the commandment to not worship other gods, His people had just finished making a calf out of gold and worshiping it. People have worshiped the sun, animals, and statues. God has better things for us than just to rotate.

Are you asking why He couldn't do all His creating in one day? He could have, but He chose to take longer because He enjoyed doing it and didn't need to rush. If you wanted to do a painting, would you do the whole thing in 30 minutes if you could, or would you take time to bring out the details and enjoy watching your painting develop? And then when you finished would you quickly move on to something else, or would you sit back and admire your work for a while?

Nobody would argue against you that the book was not written by man. God is go great and powerful and he did not want to do in just a day. So what? why should he follow as you like. He is smarter than you that if he do in just one day you will find it in another way again.

I used to do what you're doing. Pick out some metaphor and pick it apart. GOD WAS DONE. That's why he rested. God is so beyond your capacity of understanding. I hope before you die, that you realize what I did, God is the creator of all things. I'm still not religious because that is a business but I am very spritual. God is mother nature.

You may be right. But before giving your verdict I request that you also go through the English transalation of th Holy Quran once without bias eyes. Never in it will you find statments such as that God rests.

I dont agree with your second point though, that when God says that we shall have no God but Him, that he is insecure. YOu see, when God created us, he knew he wanted to test us. That can be done by giving us free will, but at the same time, providing us with warnings through messangers and books. We may choose to belive, or not belive. God's power demands respect, and He doesnot like that we worship others besides him. But he has to warn. That is all what he is doing when He makes those staments in the Quran and the Bible.

I like to think he took the day off to enjoy what he created.

As for your version of 'realism' I find the fact you are putting human feelings and emotions onto a deity greatly amusing.

Even if you do not believe in him, why get your knickers twisted and lash out all nasty at those who choose to believe?

Hate is ugly.

The Hebrew word ""YOM"" was translated as DAY.

It actually means TIME.

So--- the first time, the second time,,, not DAYS at all.

The seventh TIME -God RESTED.....not rested, like in TIRED-- rested like in STOPPED...... a musical REST is a ""STOP""

PS THE GOD made Time, and Days............. could have been any number of minutes or even YEARS!

We have inheritited many traits from God. Even our anger, and jealousy. God even regretted making us at one time. God is great, and I am greatful that I have been given these traits. We'd be rather boring and bland if we didn't. So would God.
