People do it all the time, but cheese starts to grow bacteria when left out for more than a few hours. I read this somewhere.

Depends on the temperature... I would say that 2 days in a cool area is a 50/50 chance of being spoiled. Depends on how tough your stomach is.

It is recommended to refrigerate food 1 hour after cooking it, as bacteria starts to settle on it right away. After 2 days, personally, I'd throw it away.

24 hours is my maximum limit if it has been sitting out.
less if you live someplace hot and humid.
