My job is making Dry Cat Food, I work for a large International company and we at are site manufacture one of the leading Dry Cat food brands along with Many of the leading Dog food brands.

In fact the manufacture of the the food is highly regulated with being tested and checked at least every two hours for quality, in fact even the size of kernels has a strict tolerance along with the moistures and density of the product & to ensure each production run is 100% the results are entered into a computer and measured against quality standards and should a result give a concern the Quality Dept are automatically emailed to raise there attention and product not dispatched.

The raw materials at our site are delivered every 24 hours so ensuring fresh materials and the vitamins and acids added are also to such a standard that they could be used in human food production.

infact your cat will thrive on it....

As I understand it, and I may be wrong with all the good dry foods out there now, but I was always led to believe that feeding just dry food to cats and in particular male cats that it can cause crystals to form in the bladder and could even possibly be fatal in extreme cases! Your best bet is to take veterinary advice, also milk is not good for any cat they should drink only water!

Some people believe that it is best to feed your cat dried food because it can also help keep their teeth clean, but you need to make sure that there is always water down for your cat because the dried food can make them extremely thirsty - imagine if you just ate cream crackers how thirsty you would be. Also what milk are you giving your cat - Whiskers do a special milk for cats which is much better for them than the milk that we drink

Dry food is best for you cat! It is better to just give them water to drink though. Cows milk is different than milk kittens get from their mothers, so cats can have problems digesting it and they can get the dreaded diarrhea. Get a good dry cat food like Iams or Science Diet to feed them and make sure they have water available to them all day. Maybe milk can become more of a treat, but not too much of it.

Hi. We have 2 cats and they are both fed on dried cat food. We use IAMS. I do give them canned for a treat every now and again tho as a treat! They are both fit and healthy. Plus dry food works out a lot cheaper in the long run...we for us anyway!
I wouldnt recommend cows milk if that is what yours is on...give cat milk instead which can be bought in pet shops and most supermarkets. I believe cows milk can give them worms, but please dont quote me on that cuz Im probably wrong! LOL
Make sure he/she has a supply of fresh water all the time.

Hi there
It's probably a good thing that your cat will only eat dried food as the pouches and soft tinned foods contain loads of salt and other bad things which can affect your cats kidneys. Also dried food is better for his teeth as the roughness will help to clean them, just make sure that there is a bowl of clean fresh water for him to drink and he will be fine.

Dried food is better for them in allot of ways, firstly it cleans their teeth and helps keep plaque down and secondly it tends to be lower in protiens which can cause liver failure. Dweeb, one of my cats has a complete dried food diet from the vet - just make sure you get one that is low in fat - lol this is a cat we are talking about and not my diet! Milk, if it is cows milk is not a good idea - they have problems digesting it due to the lactose content.

Absolutely no problem with it at all. He's getting all his nutrients, he's keeping his teeth clean, and there's no tins or pouches for you to throw away each day. It's a win/win really.

Wouldn't recommend milk though. It's just not good for them, unless it's specially formulated cat milk - and even then, I wouldn't give it to him every day. Just make sure he always has plenty of fresh water available (which I'm sure you already do).

As long as you are buying him a high-quality dry cat food, he'll be fine. I've known several kitties that never really got into the wet-food thing. The only thing you might -someday- have to worry about is if his teeth go bad. It will be harder for him to chew dry food without healthy teeth, and without being familiar with wet food he may get hungry. (but if he gets hungry enough, he'll choke it down)

Just make sure he brushes after every meal and flosses once a day, and sees the dentist at least once a year - LOL.

Oh wow your lucky my cats hate dry food, they are very spoiled kitties they only eat canned food, or whatever I'm having for dinner like chicken. But dont worrie, try putting a can of food in her dish then put some dry food on top of they canned food.
