I suppose it's just a sign of how some people try to elevate themselves over other people that they don't even know. I happen to be pretty well educated and proud of the education I worked for...I don't like petty putdowns.

Absolutely. They already have in mind what they want you to say, they word their question accordingly and then proceed to get mad when you give honest advice. Hey, no one is going to have the exact same opinion, they should know that as adults, anyway. It also gets me when people don't tell all the story. You do not get the correct advice if you fudge your details. Even worse, if they follow the advice, innocent people get hurt at their dishonest expense. No one is perfect, everyone ought to be able to admit their mistakes. The answerers can be blamed in this situation as well. They can be entirely too harsh and judgemental, not stopping to remember that in the past, they did the same thing or something worse and how they are just as capable as their victim to make a mistake.

I wouldn't be surprised but it would be somewhat disappointing. They asked a question and I took the time to answerer it, they should show some appreciation even if it doesn't help them.
Of course this doesn't apply to the people who leave nasty or stupid answers because they are bored or in need of attention.

Would you be happier with some serious put downs then?

Treat them as entertainment, as a child would treat an ant.

Oh, and where do you live?

I have a mountain of hate mail that's been sent here to forward to someone, it can't all be for me!

I guess I'm not really surprised any more. I was recently accused that I "won't even consider another point of view". Of course I considered her point of view -- I had to in order to answer the question! She was ticked off because I didn't AGREE with her point of view. And she called me closed-minded. Sometimes you just have to laugh and go on.

You gotta admit some people ask some really stupid questions. Therefore, when a reply results in personal attacks, the person should reevaluate there line of questions. Especially if they frequently get negative replies.

Thick skin helps, but I'm more amazed when my sloppy answers get rated as "best" and the answers that took longest to compose get buried under a ton of other answers.

No accounting for taste... Go figure...

Yeah, I've seen some cold answers, but you gotta figure you're getting a diverse crowd here. Hopefully, you'll get some serious, caring people too.

I've been surprised a couple of times when i got Best Answer, but the person who asked the questions said i didn't answer the question.

So, why did he/she give me the best answer points?

I have not had that happen to me yet. I am sorry it has happened to you. Some people do not really want an answer to the question, they want to post their opinion and do not like anyone who disagrees with them.
