I have a 3 year old, male, Miniature Pinscher (Min-Pin). He is very quiet for his breed, and loving to all my female friends. He is used to my boyfriend...but when I have male friends come over, he FREAKS out and goes on this barking rampage forever and won't calm down. What happend to him? What do I do?

He feels threatened by males because they are the "top" dog. At least i thing that's why they act this way. He is very territorial and doesn't like other males stepping into "his" territory.
I think the only way to stop him from barking is to either spray him with water or put him around more of ur guy friends.

Obviously something has happened to him. I am sure his barking and over-reacting is annoying, but based on what you say about him he is experiencing real anxiety. It might help when male friends come over to give them a hug and show your dog that they are safe. I doubt that will work but it is worth a try. I have heard that having calm boys (children) come over and handle a scared dog helps them feel safe with a smaller male. With enough exposure to males your dog may overcome his fear. However, since dogs don't tend to rationalize their behaviors I anticipate that he will remain leary of most men who are not familiar to him. For his own peace of mind it may help to put him in a room or a kennel in a back bedroom with a television or stereo to drown out the noise. Good luck.

He thinks you are his female. In his mind he owns you. You should read one of Caeser Milan's books or watch his show the Dog Whisperer on Nat'l Geographic channel.
