If you did not have insurance there is nothing you can do but try to get the car fixed. You can call the insurance to see if they extended your coverage beyond the cancellation to cover the lienholder. But that will only help if the lienholder is taking the vehicle from you because you didn't make payments. You can check though.

Advice on priorities is that after the mortgage, the utilities and food, and the car payment, insurance should be next on your list of necessary evils you pay religiously.

Just one thing to add to Chris' answer...don't flip, but if he injured or killed the cow it is likely someone's property and you will have to pay for that, too. Find out where this happened and if the cow was supposed to be there...meaning was he driving on someone's property or was the cow loose and roaming...

Do you have Comprehensive coverage on your insurance policy. If so, you will be covered. You will pay your deductible and they will pay the rest.

If you don't have rental coverage, you will be out of a car (or out of pocket) until the vehicle is repaired.

There is only one thing to do refinance the house so that you can catch up on the bills and you will be OK.
