Leukemia is a cancer of either the blood or bone marrow. There are four types, and they are usually detected through blood tests. Leukemia causes the body to produce a large number of white blood cells. Most of the white bloods cells produced are deformed, though, so they won't fight infection. What they end up doing is crowding the body with useless blood cells, which makes no room for good blood cells to produce. So, eventually, when a Leukemia patient gets an infection, they are unable to fight it off.
