i actually love being a schiz, it's very unusal in a comforting way. you feel very much different from the rest of the world, and you could live off of your own thoughts, without someone else's for a long time. it's like having a very interesting and fun meeting in your head, all day everyday. you could never get bored with it. =D i don't know why people view it as a bad thing, or as a disease, and i absolutely hate how doctors could give people a pill to "cure" the "disease", only because it is not normal. i hate how people today wish to be so much as, normal!!! anyway, i just wanted to know your thoughts about Schizophrenia, and what you think as pros and cons of it.

I am skeptical that you are telling the truth. Internal voices are seldom comforting, they usually interfere with sleep and most often the content of their speech is highly critical of the person who's suffering from the symptoms. In addition, the hallucinations and delusions make organizing thoughts a significant challenge, and your paragraph is well phrased and ordered. Finally, schizophrenics have difficulty acknowledging that their brains generate the voices, yet you state you could "live off of your own thoughts."
If I give you the benefit of the doubt, your symptoms are exceedingly mild; if you are being truthful, there's a slight chance you may have a low-level mania, as well, although I could not tell without a psychiatric assessment. If however, you are misleading people on this topic for your own ejoyment, you have an odd and insensitive manner

What you're describing does not sound like schizophrenia. I know three people diagnosed as such. Each on is different. On is pretty normal, never done anything wrong. The other, she has hurt her son, is very delusional, and thinks that she is a supreme being. The last, he is a sad case, he does not really have schizophrenia, doctors don't know because he won't tell them; he is very bad into Crystal Meth which mimics most of the symptoms of the problem. There are three levels of schizophrenia. Levels one and two are not that bad. Level 3 is the worst; you have paranoid delusions like everyone is out to get you and there's a conspiracy; and the second person I mentioned has been in my presence and said she heard something not said, seen things not there, and thought things totally off the wall. You do not seem like such just from reading your paragraph. But yes, some schizophrenic people are very dangerous. You seem like someone who had a lot of time to daydream and that's all it is. Most people enjoy their own thoughts and viewpoints more than anyone else's. True schizophrenia does not make a person happy only less like a "real" person.

I love being schizo too. I think it is a very deep mental voyage, a "heroic journey" that I go through, like al siebert from successfulschizophrenia.com describes it. What sucks, is that, even though I know many people who don't need meds, is that I do need them and they make me live only like 30 percent of my capabilities. But what else is there to say? I think I am on my way to becoming a better person thanks to it. And I like the way I look at life, people etc.
the con: like I said, I need meds
the pro: deep mental experience, good for people. spiritual growth.
oh, I forgot: yeah, before; in the beginning, it was good to be psychotic too for me, but now, 10 years later, the voices are very mean, so I can't be psychotic very often anymore (sadly)...

You might be an artist of some kind. Or maybe you could be. Tap into that deep well of consciousness without dignifying the labels for abnormal thought processes or behavior.
If you get the chance, you might enjoy a book called The Outsiders, by Colin Wilson. It's not about mental illness. It's about visionaries.

Its true, its not a disease, its just difficult to get around the "normal" aspects of society. People with certain mental differences actually are good for a society, because they have a different aspect of the way things are.

Some people are able to handle it better than others. I think it would be harder if you were older and then got it....just because you have lived forever without it. Good Job in handling yours, it's not easy! I don't think pills are the answer either.

Schizophrenia IS a disease that most often DOES require medication. If you had diabetes, would you not take your meds? There are far too many people with it that are danger to themselves and others (not saying you are). They need their meds just to function. Advocating them being non-compliant with their meds is very irresponsible. Maybe you are a higher level functioning schizo, that is not the case for everyone.

Well i think my mom might have it and she has gone completely looney.. .and now my grandparents have to take care of me and my 3 sisters becuz my mom is mentally unfit to be a mother.
So i think schizophrenia is a disease if it causes my mother to not be able to take care of her own fricken children.

I know damn well I'll get reported for this, but you are a clueless ********. You've obviously had no firsthand experience or wouldn't be acting like a mental illness is a mild case of pimples.
