In a word, NO. A fanatical Christian would be someone who actually obeyed the commands of Jesus, which of course, was the criteria for knowing who really loved him...."he who loves me, keeps my commands" and it can be said, that the overwhelming majority of Christians do not obey Jesus, They do not Hate their parents, but if they do, then they usually get imprisoned, if they don't commit suicide first. Then they do not give away all their possessions to the poor to follow Jesus,,which is understandable nowadays since Jesus didn't return like he supposedly promised he was going to do, even before some of those listening at that time would die.... and I know of only a sparse number who have committed eunuchs upon their own genitals, which of course was supposedly a mark of the really good obedient Christians. Now, to our knowledge, GW Bush has not vowed poverty, or any other fanatical Christian practice. Nor does he handle venomous serpents, or drink any deadly poison, other than the political drivel they serve in the Political circles in Champagne glasses. No we can safely say, our President is not a fanatical Christian. Yet. Sincerely

He has certainly been successful in making other think that. It may well be true. This might explain how Cheney is his 'back-man', as his practicality could balance the extremist things that Bush says and does. I cannot really see into W's heart. It could all just be an illusion to get support from the 'sheep people'. It could all be true. That man has a bull head. His thick skull and absolute certainty about every single action he takes makes it very hard to detect deception. He fires people who disagrees with him. He is so hard to approach that his own staff wouldn't bother him on vacation to let him know a Category 5 hurricane was heading straight at a major American port city. I wonder if, perhaps, he was an animal is his most recent previous life?

Strictly a personal opinion, but I feel that Bush isn't especially religious. I do think he never shrinks from presenting himself that way to ensnare the votes of the fanatically religious. They are easy to manipulate and he's got it down to a science.

Yes he is a fanatical christian. Anyone who fights terror with more terror is guilty of the crime, and punishable under the law of this earth and the law put forward by Jesus christ, who was the man of peace.

Elpha is right. Bush has no church membership any where (Clinton and Carter did). He is using the Christian right for his power base. He might be a Christian, but there is not much evidence of it in his actions.

Almost... He's all high and mighty about being a Christian, like it's a title above all others, and is chummy with Pat Robertson and others... But he's not yet demanding everyone become Christian and ordering drownings and burnings of those that refuse.
I can't believe I almost just stood up for him.... gag...

Heh, you kinda indexed the style of behaviors fanatics do, a minimum of in my thoughts. only 'reason somebody speaks in tongues(which i don't get, yet having reported that, i did not develop up around human beings from religions who practiced that, the two) or knocks on your door(my hubby and that i'm getting JW's at our door once or twice a month), would not lead them to a "fanatic". Nor does sharing their faith. It should be extremely severe habit for me to label a individual a fanatic or "fundie". the style of individual who hounds and harasses human beings, extremely than courteously "shares". people who scream approximately how "evil" your are or which you're "going to Hell" in case you do not convert. The propose, nasty ones who are not respectful of the actuality that not everybody's an identical. it extremely is a "fundie" to me, and not all Christians fall into that class. my very own uncle is a Lutheran minister, and he's between the nicest adult males i be attentive to. His spouse, notwithstanding, is between the few human beings i be attentive to i could call "fundie". it is the female who reported i did not know her with the help of sitting QUIETLY at food collectively as the relatives prayed. What, might she extremely i began out reciting each cuss be conscious in each language I knew collectively as they prayed or began ingesting? Yikes. I additionally remember an incident whilst i grow to be at school my Freshman twelve months, taking finals only earlier Christmas wreck. that's in Minnesota(not extraordinarily a strategies from Minneapolis) the place I went, and the winters there are chilly. there grow to be a non secular fellow who, basically a pair of days earlier Christmas, whilst it grow to be snowing gently and the generic public have been in thick winter coats and boots, had taken it upon himself to strip right down to a loincloth, tie himself to a pass, and be placed interior the path of the campus sq. spouting off non secular passages and so on. It had to be below 0. i grow to be shivering with the help of the time I have been given from my dorm to my Mass Comm very final and the homes have been only 2 blocks aside. the guy's unfastened to shout his non secular ideals from the rooftops if he needed, yet sheesh...tied to a pass one million/2 bare interior the path of an icy December day in Minnesota... you're unfastened to have confidence, however the folk who will say and do something they are in a position to to "win" believers are those that qualify as "fundie", not the stunning persons who're well mannered, first rate, and can know others' adjustments.
