I know a girl (who's family is morman) and she got pregnant. She is 15 years old. She is due in 2 months.

When her parents found out, they were outraged (naturally). They immediately pulled her out of public schools and hid her in the home. They told her not to talk to the boy, then they began home-schooling him as well.

He currently lives at his house.

And, I just found out her parents made them get married! She's 15!

Am I crazy, or is this HORRIBLE parenting?

Pregnancy is bad but adding marriage to it makes it a bigger mistake and the kids and their babies will pay for it. The parents may also pay for it if the kids divorce or move away because they have to get away from the stress! They will probably not learn as much at home since they are under stress also. It will be hard for them to get jobs or support their child. If only there were ways to keep girls and boys from having sex until they are out of college or have a great job, married, and can support a family.Poor kids!!

No one should be forced to get married. Religion is a powerful thing and committed people live their beliefs. At least she is going to have the baby and not abort it. At least her parents didn't banish her. We all make mistakes and have to live with the consequences. It is just a shame she had to learn a life long lesson at such a young age. The horrible parenting should be that they did not educate her or keep a closer watch as to what their daughter was doing. The signs are there if you look for them.

Thats just the way some religions are. Some parents dont play that especially not the deep religious type. But hey she'll be 18 in a while so tell her to deal and then if it doesnt work theres always divorce!

Your not crazy, but it is defiantly your personal opinion.
Different cultures, religions and such have different beliefs. Heck...some normal people in the US have some strange beliefs and require different answers to certain situations. One of my best friends got married when she was 14 because she got pregnant and her parents made them get married. They are still happily married and she is 23 now. Maybe not the greatest solution or the best parenting, but in their eyes it is an acceptable solution to a problem.

I agree that this is horrible parenting, keeping in mind that they are Mormon, though, this is usually how the situation is handled. I feel bad for both of those kids, neither of them are ready for marriage or parenting. Do what you can to stand by your friend, she is going to need you along the way just to have someone to talk all of this out with.

A bunch of people here said it all depended on your culture and what not. This is called multi-cultualism/relativisim and is a crock put out by leftist thinkers.

There are some things that are absolutely right and absolutely wrong. This was wrong all the way around.

Not horrible, just different from the status quo here in North America.
You can't judge some things by comparison to your own perceptions of normalcy.

What you and I might think as horrible parenting, might be the way of life to them. Their religion and culture might say its a required thing. Apparently she knew what would also happen, being raised with her family, and knew of the consiquences. Best of luck to the girl.

There is alot of crazy ways IMO but as long as no one is hurt they did nothing wrong, it may hurt them in the long run but right now they feel they are doing right. It's not the way I would go about it but it's their family...thank God I have boys!!!!
