becuase certain people within a country feel the need to force other people to either follow their beliefs or be left for dead. while others are in the country trying to protect the good people who do not want to follow the beliefs of those certain people. also it's mostly political reasons and those certain people are too stupid and stubborn to talk it out and would rather try to change things with violence and scare the general populace into following them for fear of being shot or beheaded or the like.

because honestly...they dont know what else to do or how else to deal with the overpowering/overwhelming need to assert themselves
