I am partial to canon's. The IS will be of great help in low light situation, as well as canon's improved high ISO performance.

the 4x zoom is also another advantage.

Also keep in mind that canon has recently introduced a replacement for the SD 700, the new camera is the SD 800 IS.

Sony cameras are the best because they have a highquality lens known as "Carl Zeiss" they deliver crisp and clear image. It also comes with a reliable and good software. I have 1 myself!

the sd700 has an image stabilizer that will let you take photos hand held in low light.
