the first and last time i had a cat, she had something wrong with her insides.. she would accidentally leak feces if she ran from us(she was scared of us most of the time.. we got her as a wild kitten..and only had her a total of 2 months) and one day we went into the bathroom and looked at her, and her ***hole was ruptured... we took her to the vet and they gave us some pills to give her.. but they didn't help, and we had to get her put down.. does anyone know what could have been wrong with her? she was fine when we got her? and she had never been outside around other cats after we got her?

the pills didn't help at all. the vets didn't act like it was that serious. they said the medicine would treat it.. but it was obvious she was in a lot of pain.

Maybe there is a zoophiliac in the house.

If you got her as a feral cat that could have to do with the running and leaking feces. We took in a feral once and she did that for a week. Wouldn't harly eat- hissed at us. She was traumatized. It is very hard to tame a feral cat. Between that I would say many of the other answers about the anal gland are probably right. Maybe the stress of not being in the wild brought on the runny stools which caused the infection. So sorry for your loss. Try a well handled, social kitten next time. Cats are great pets but the wild ones just seem to have such a hard time adjusting. We took the one we had back after about 10 days and turned her loose with the colony she lived in and the lady who had the farm and feeds them said she was fine. She just couldn't adjust. I would switch to a new vet also. Good luck

Could be a ruptured anal gland. There are glands that fill with this nasty smelling goo that cats expell when they are scared or when they poop. They get infected, and bust, like a pimple. It's cureable though. Some cleaning the area, some antibiotics and she would've been fine.
Could have been a birth defect. Some show up later in life. In that case it was probably fatal.
Could have been some sort of trauma. Was the cat kicked, bitten or hit by a car? Again fatal, but it would be good to know if a family member was being mean.
It probably WASN'T worms. Worms cause bloody diarrhea, but not rupture.
Sorry for your bad time.

EDIT
It sounds like you got a bad vet. Again, sorry!

usually this is what is called a prolapse and can be caused from several things one could be from having a hard delivery of kittens or straining for some reason or an infection of some sort, or diid she eat something and it tried to pass thru, many times cats and dogs can rip themselves, if she was leaking feces she may have had a muscle tear or possibly a deformity inside, these are just a few of the common problems, was so sorry to hear you had to put her down, that is always so hard to do......but sometimes when things are wrong that is the most loving thing you can do....not anything you could have done to prevent these types of problems other than always feed kitties a good diet and make sure they dont get into anything if possible...good luck

This question intrigued me along with the answers given. I found this website:

http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?cls=1&articleid=509

It shows a drawing of exactly where the anal glands are, and notes that damage can affect the nerves in the area, which would cause fecal incontinence, which appears to be what your kitten had (leaked feces...ran from us).

It may be that it was one of the anal glands that ruptured, and not the actual anus (note the proximity in the picture).

I didn't search the other conditions named by the other answerers, but you may want to, if only to clear up the matter...

I'm sorry for your loss.

it sounds like she might have had a problem with her anal glands. dogs and cats use them for scent marking, but if they're not cleaned out regularly they can become impacted (there's a buildup of fluid, which makes the anal gland huge and infected) in some animals, and eventually rupture. it would have been very painful for the cat to go through. but i dont know why the vet would just give her pills...usually they have to go through surgery to correct it (that's what they had to do with my dog). it could have been that when they ruptured, they may have infected other areas of her body, so the vet gave her an antibiotic to kill off the infection...but why the vet didn't schedule surgery too is beyond me.

It was probably some sort of infection of the anal glands. I've never had a cat that had it, but you can find out more info by just searching for it on google or another search engine.
