Help, I am passing a kidney stone, I was in the ER last night, now I am passing it, and it is so painful. Do you have any advice, aside from going back to the ER.

My daughter had kidney stones and unfortunately, you just have to pass it. It IS painful. If the stone is big enough, they would have referred you to a nephrologist that would have taken it out or performed lithotrypsy (a procedure where they use sonic waves to break up the stone into smaller pieces making it easier to pass).Sorry for your pain. Hope you feel better.

Kidney stones are a waiting game. There are no pain meds to help, and there are no fast solutions. Im going to tell you what im sure the attending MD did, bite the bullet

My father in law has chronic kideny stones. I'm actually a little surprised the ER doc didn't perscribe you a pain medication. I had a kideny stone last year and they gave me a Lortab perscription, of course I'm a big baby and they probably thought I would kill myself without them, lol. Hope yours passes quickly and you get well soon..

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.

They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!

This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.

It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.

wow, sorry about your pain. I've seen my husband go thru this, it's HORRIBLE. When it happened to him, and also his Son, their respective physicians advised them to drink as much water and fluids as they could possibley get down. Apparently it helps to fush it out and get it moving and on it's way out!
Good luck, it will pass, hang in there!
Hope this helps!
