sunshine is right, dont use the other stuff, i used it in my daughters hair and she went outside, came back in and it was fried! the oil helped the sun cook it...literally!

Baby oil is mineral oil which is the main component of motor oil. It will leave a residue and will attact dirt and dust to the hair shaft it stays on. Coconut oil is already in some commercial preparations but to be honest most medical refefences will suggest washing with a gentle castile soap with no other additives. and not that frequently. Medical Research on dandruff recomends that you wash your hair with cool water as hot water dries out your scalp more... the old addage to brush your hair a hundred times at night then allows your own natural oils from your scalp to be distributed on the hair and all those alleged additives will not be superior to your own natural skin (sebum) oils.

"Using coconut oil for hair conditioner is a great, healthy idea. It not only softens the hair and leaves it shiny, it also leaves your scalp moisturized. Our highly refined oil will absorb into your hair shaft quickly and easily to replace natural oils that are missing. It will also absorb into your skin nicely as well without leaving that greasy feeling that some moisturizers have a tendency to do."

"Never put anything with mineral oil (Baby oil) on your hair. It will dry it out. Make sure to read labels when buying hair care products, as a lot of them contain mineral oil. It's cheap and for most people it's not a problem, because they are keeping their hair relatively short...which means they cut off damage on a regular basis."

baby oil is NOT good for your hair. If you are in the sun a lot it will fry your hair eventually and your hair will start to feel brittle and nasty, even if you never dye your hair or anything!
