I am in love with a guy who is Apostolic Christian, which means he doesn't date. In his faith, the man only asks for a woman in marriage if he feels that it is God's will for them to be together. He tells me it's not a personal rejection, that it's not because I'm not attractive or who I am as a person, but that the bible states not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers. So we could never be together unless I was converted to his faith and God laid it upon his heart to ask for me. I catch him looking at me with interest now and then, and he did tell me he is fighting and resisting falling for me. He told me last night that he is not interested in anything other than a church friendship and a neighborly (we live next door to each other)friendship right now...he did say RIGHT NOW...so am I living in denial thinking anything could happen? I AM repenting in his church, not to marry him, but because I like the faith.

yes I know all about the apostolic faith,I was raised that way.He is telling you the truth .they would rather for you to be in the same faith as the one you marry and it is really a very good idea.People who marry out of their faith is usually a distaster,if you plan to be a family that will be attending church.Imagine if you were of another faith and you wanted to go to church and your husband did not agree with your faith it would cause you a lot of problems. It would be a constant battle. Now if you plan to just live your life and not go to church it probably would not matter cause Christ would never come up.It appears that the guy you are attracted too has a deep faith and plans to make church a part of his life,so if you really like his faith and going to his church then I think you have a very good chance with this guy.Do not go to his church however just to get your guy cause that would be wrong. If you are sincere about your relationship with God then you should continue to go to his church and seek the Lord and become a christian because you really love God,then you will get your guy and have a very happy life with a husband that you can respect and love.He probably thinks you are attractive but he is wanting to wait and see how your walk with God will be,because he wants a good christian girl, and wife.......its also a very good church ,and you will be happy in that church

I would learn more about his religion and respect his decision. This is really a hard situation, to love someone. You have to do some soul searching, because you shouldn't feel you have to convert to his religion to be with him. I am a christian and it does say in the bible that Christians are not to be unequally yoked with nonbelievers. You can't really chose who you love and sometimes you are attracted to someone not of your faith.

Dump the loser who wants you to change for him. Period.

You can do better. You want to be with a guy who wants and loves you for who you are, exactly as you are.

Let him go to find another person he can squeeze into his cookie cutter mold of what an ideal partener shoud be. stay yourself and find someone who appreciates that.

Lose the bible thumper. He obviously is living his life from a script and expect you to do the same. Good thing you found out before the committmemt of marrying him.

Move on and find a guy who is so into you, and so good to you, that you will want to call all your friend amd brag about him to them.

Anything less is not worth your time.
