1) Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?
Epicurus
2) Because he got sloppy.

Here are some possibilities that fit with logic and the evidence:
1. There is no God. It is a random universe.
2. There is a God, but his purpose and plan are incomprehensible to our puny minds.
3. There is a God who is logical like us, but does not give a damn.
4. There is a God who is logical like us, but who does not want to interfere with the laws of nature or the consequences of our free will.
5. There is a God who thinks much like us and feels our suffering, but our suffering serves a higher purpose and is compensated for in another life, universe or state of being.
Here are some possibilities that don't fit:
1. There is a God who thinks like us, but who is capricious or sadistic.
I think this is unlikely, because not everyone suffers. And there is no correlation between those who do evil and those that suffer, and to what degree.
2. It isn't God. It is Satan and/or man's sin.
This is a total cop out. And not logical. The Christian God has free will but is supposed to be, by his nature, incapable of a negative. He could have given us the same nature, along with our free will. But he didn't. He gave us the capacity for evil. Ergo....he created evil, and he cannot dodge responsibility for it.
Adam and Eve cannot be held responsible either. Serpent or no serpent. Until they ate from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, by definition, they had no concept of right and wrong. In other words they did not know that disobeying God was wrong until after they disobeyed. They were doomed from the start. And with them, so were we. God set us up, because that is the world he wanted from the start.
3. All the suffering in the world will be compensated for in the afterlife.
Since Heaven will be total bliss for everyone, I don't see how those that suffered are any better off.
Take your pick. On the evidence we cannot say which is the correct scenario. Personally, I lean towards possibility #5 above.
I believe that if the suffering of others gives us pain, then we should do whatever we can to lighten the suffering of others. We cannot eliminate evil, but we could do a lot more than we are at present. Instead of blaming God or the devil, we should take on some responsibility ourselves. And action is needed, not prayer. There is no objective evidence that prayer makes the slightest difference to anything. Prayer is another cop out, an excuse for avoiding personal responsibility.
If the weather is consistent, it does not matter that it does not rain in some places. And wet places can grow food for those in dry places. Dry places can be very agreeable otherwise. Natural disasters are another thing, but most of them are predictable, at least in terms of location and probabilities. And there are also protective actions which can be taken. It is even possible to develop a strategy for global warming. Whilst you have asked an important question, I don't see the rain thing as a problem.

1.-Those 4 men had free will and chose to allow the satan rule them and made the worst choice. Not Gods choice.
Q- Why do people always blame GOD when something horrible happens? But when you need something, he is the first one you beg for help. When he answers your prayers, you don't even say thank you!
2-They have survived for thousands of years. What has changed??? Let's think. Mankind has. They have government leaders that shoot at the those that try to go and help them from their own government. And the reason, Africa is dying of aids( I am assuming you mean africa) is because of the sexual problem there. I have watched a couple programs on it. They prostitute themselves in other villages that don't know they have aids just so they can make money, and don't make the men wear condoms. Look it up. It was on national geographic channel. I am sureyou can find things on the net about it.

It doesn't seem fair that evil things happen to people especially children. But it was the wickednes of man not God. Also it doesn't stop God being real just because of evil. Man is evil to the core, you can't blame God for that.
The planet is cursed because of mankind. Read Genesis chapter 3. Look at what happened to the who of creation when the fruit was taken that God had forbidden.
By the way God made the planets in 6 days not 7.

I cannot answer this question in a rational way, because the horrific events that you have chosen as examples of God being non-existent or neglectful, are emotionally challenging for me.
I will attempt to state that, whenever something wonderful happens....it is so easy for us to say "thank you God". Yet when we fail to help an abused child, or to offer a helping hand to a starving nation......we ask "where is God now"?
If we only we could see that as a human race, we can do more for our own neighbour (no child should be treated like that), and we can do something as a nation....no nation should be starving.
We....the human race have allowed these things to happen, by not helping out those who need us. (who wants a newer car this year, and a bigger TV?......yet cannot help the needful)? Some things need to be put into perspective and not blamed on a God who gave us all FREEDOM OF CHOICE!.

I don't know if there is a God or not, I am always listening to people's views because at the end of the day this is all we have, my view is that God is nature, it's all around us and nature can be cruel also. I think man has the ability to solve all the problems on Earth, we first have to learn to stop being greedy and wasteful and share, we have to stop fighting and become friends, I am sure if this happened and we all worked together instead of against each other our Earth would be a better place for all. I try everyday, we all should. Evil people were born just as you and I were, they just chose to be as they are, fortunatley, we have good people to deal with them.

1. The same place that He has always been, on the throne and looking down upon men who chose to damage a little girl's life. Remember, that people are born with a sinful nature and will do what comes natural-evil/sin/wickedness. God has provided healing and deliverance for that little girl like He did for me. I have forgiven the family member who sexually abused me for eight years. This family member is now saved and living in heaven. God only allows things to happen because He is God. Nothing is going unseen, unheard, or unpunished that is evil in the world. Remember, the King of kings and the Lord of lords is going to return and judge those who have wronged others and who have never received Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour.
2. God made the heavens and the earth in six days and He rested on the seventh day. God created everything good and very good according to Genesis 1 and 2. When sin entered into the world, the creation became cursed. Read Romans and find out that the creation is groaning and waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God.
Be encouraged and read the Word of God to know why things are the way they are. God is still Sovereign and He is a Just God.
May the Lord bless you with the wisdom and faith to stand strong in these days and times and to learn to forgive just as Jesus Christ has forgiven you.

Bad stuff happens. Sorry its life. That doesnt mean Gods not there. I could use the follwoing logic:
a man goes into a barber shop and asks the barber to cut his hair. After the man leaves he turns to the barber and said "I don't believe barbers exist." The barber, astonished replies "but I just cut your hair! How could you think that?" The man says "well I llok at people on the streets and some of them don't have trimmed hair; obviously there must not be any barbers or else they would have cut their hair." The barber finally answers "indeed there are barbers but not everyone comes to us."...
Same concept with God, but that doesn't mean there will never be evil, how do u know that girl didnt die and go to heaven for eternity? God's mercy is endless whether u see it or not. Peace.

the men who abused the girl were obviously evil
and i think
everything happens to everyone for a reason
god must know that she will b strong enough or will become a very important person because of this, maybe she will be a police officer or go around talking about what happend to her
and if every place was the same
how fun would that be

If god made man in his own image, then this being is a truly nasty piece of work. Look around the world an see how god is setting man against man.
All you will get from the believers is "God works in mysterious ways" and other woolly answers.
There really maybe a day of reckoning, and god will have answer for all the trouble caused.

1. God was there. To intervene would force belief in God. Those men chose evil, and they will pay for it, while that girl will feel comfort in knowing that, and that God is close.
2. Get with it. Most christians do not believe that God did make the earth in seven days.
