yes! as a nurse I have. Of course only God knows the communication going on between the dying person and God. But one elder lady in particular who was not Godly died slowly and she had a tortured look on her face all the days before her death. Her eyes were closed but what was she seeing? She was grimacing. I would whisper in her ear "reach out to God, talk to God", and hope it was not too late.

Yes I have. In fact, those who I have been with who have stood fast and stared death in the eyes without subscribing to a prescribed faith of any kind have been those who have gone most peacefully. They accepted their time was up, realized that there is no real way of knowing what is next, if anything is next, and most importantly, they ACCEPTED that they do not know. That is the problem with all beliefs in afterlife and divinity... When you believe so strongly in a higher-power that you accept your belief as truth and fact, you are doing nothing but decieving yourself. I grant you that there very well may be a higher power, but there is no way to show the truth of the matter, so rather than invent or cling to some notion concieved by someone else, we should simply accept that we do not know. is it really that hard to admit your inadequacies and gaps in knowledge?

Yes, I have. And I was not scared at all.

You know, it's REALLY irritating when you give us this particular speech. Get over it, once and for all! You have YOUR truth, not THE truth. And it's not any better or worse than OUR truth, which at least we don't pretend to pass off as THE truth.

And a person has a right to die without 'accepting Jesus', as you put it. If they're dying, they've got enough trouble as it is, to have to deal with YOUR fears about their going to hell stories. Those are your stories. And even IF you were right, and unbelievers were wrong, it'd be us going to hell, not you. So please, let unbelievers live AND die in peace. And keep your fears to yourself.

I have. My friend died in my arms after I pulled him out of his burning car. He said "I know I'm not going to make it. Nows a good a time as any, eh?" I could only shed a tear and nod. He smiled just as his eyes rolled back. He never accepted any religion, and was always ready to accept death so that he could feed his ultimate curiosity. As traumatic as it was, I believe he died happy. He knew he was going to find out. And any merciful deity who happens to meet him, can only accept that he didn't know what to follow, and waited his entire life for an answer.

Hey, this girl just e-mailed me saying "You're despicable", what kind of christian is that?

I've never been at hand when anyone died, but I see nothing scary about any death. What scares you? A religious person or one who isn't can be in pain. I've heard accounts of people dying. Some are close relatives, but I wasn't there. It sounds as if you are trying to concoct something to support preconceptions. I am not religious, and I won't be converted on my death bed.

That excludes practicing Muslims. They've accepted Jesus (PBUH) the way God commanded them long ago...

OK, for one if you are watching anyone die and you're thinking to yourself..."Wow this guy is in alot of pain and suffering, i wonder if he believed in God?" instead of trying to help him, YOU ARE A VERY SICK PERSON!
