I asked...but they wouldn't tell.

Any percentage or break down by service information would only be a guess. If such records were kept it would mean the service member "told" and would be subject to immediate separation. Do you really thing this is going to happen.

Estimate? Most sociologists suggest that 10% of the population is homosexual. So that means that 10% of each service is gay. Not real accurate is it?

How in hell would anyone know? The policy is don't ask don't tell.Where would any pollster get any info? How would a pollster survive asking anyone in an active combat unit if he was gay or not? If the askee is homophobic the asker is dead and if he is gay ind in the closet the asker is dead. Combat pay these interviewers need a lot more.

Who would know that? Can you breakdown the number of gays in your school, church or workplace. Imagine how mad everyone would be if they asked every soldier his sexual preference.

Add the fact of don't ask, don't tell policy - no one would admit being gay that liked military life. Impossible to know that answer even to get close to the right answer.

Homosexuality happens to 10% of the population so maybe about 5% since those who are found out are kicked out and a lot of the army IGNORE the don't ask don't tell policy.

Frankly, I (or anyone else for that matter) won't know. So long as they keep it off the base, and do their proper jobs assigned to them, I don't really care what sexual orientation they have.

Why does it matter? If someone is willing to risk their life for our country who cares who that person finds attractive? I sure don't. Don't ask, don't tell. As in, it's none of your business.
