Have you had chicken pox? If so, it would be ok to be around your sister. If not, you can catch chicken pox from your sister's shingles. It is a very weird condition. My mom had shingles back in May. It's basically when you get chicken pox and the virus still partially remains dormant in your body for years. Something eventually triggers it to reappear, and it usually targets the nerve endings in the body.

Shingles are not contagious. They are caused by stress and they are very painful. She needs to get on medication immediately or it may not go away.
