It's not blasphemy itself that Our Lord Won't Forgive, it is Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, that is Unforgiveable(St. Mark, chapter 3).

To Blaspheme the Holy Spirit is not merely saying obscene or derogatory things about the Spirit, as in the case of Blaspheming the Father or the Son, it is more than that.

You see, the Holy Spirit Is the Person Of the Godhead, which brings a person to repentance of sins, to Holiness. When a person obstinently refuses to repent or open themselves to the Holiness Of God, that person is out & out rejecting the Holy Spirit, & thereby, choosing Eternal Loss. Therefore, it is not God Who Chooses Not To Forgive, but, the sinner's refusal to accept Almighty God's Mercy & Forgiveness.

I hope that helps.

The only unforgivable sin is the sin that is not asked forgiveness for because most people who do this believe their wickedness is greater than God's Mercy which is the sin against the Holy Spirit.
His goodness is infinitely good to cover anything with even the tiniest drop of his blood. A great Saint was standing by the ocean and a drop of water fell on her and she was told to throw the water back into the sea so she did then he asked her to try to find it again and she said it was impossible and he said this was like his mercy

okay, knock out all of this ignorant statements that have been left by these guys. What is sin? Sin is a violation of a moral code, more or less. What is moral? What my morals are will be different then yours, so what is sin? I think we blasphemed when we threw out everything that Jesus died for. You think that Jesus died for this? No, we have lost the grace that has been given to us by God, and we will suffer that wrath, for(metaphorically speaking) we live in blasphemy. So there is your answer, God made the only sin blasphemy, to try and keep us from where we are.

You get to find this out when you seek God in humility, ask forgiveness, and accept the salvation he offers through his Son's blood.

In other words, it is hard to know how truly awful blasphemy is unless you know God.

Before I sought and found God, I was a blasphemer. I did it casually at times, and at other times I did it passionately. When I remember it now--and am given knowledge of how my words and actions mirrored those who hammered Christ to the cross, sat in judgment of him, ridiculed him, challenged him, taunted him, whipped him, and so forth--it bites and stings me with a piercing pain.

Only after understanding Christ's sacrifice can you understand how prideful, hideous, and revolting blaspheming God is. Only after knowing how good and merciful and just God is can you fully understand how blaspheming him is unpardonable.

Will I then be eternally unpardoned? (You may ask that question, given what I have said.) I don't know. Honestly, I do not know. And yet it doesn't matter. I have accepted God's gift of salvation, and his grace has entered my life. Because I know him, I know that his justice is infallible...and whatever his judgment of me shall be, it will be just.

Actually, the only unforgivable sin is final despair.

That is believeing your sins are so tremendous that- right up until the instant of your death- you believe that they cannot be forgiven.

Logical really- God can do anything with us- IF WE FIRST CONSENT. He doesn't force Himself on us, because that would violate the free will He gave us, and He cannot break His own Law.

So the idea that every sin we commit can be forgiven, UNLESS we don't believe it can be makes perfect sense!

God loves all his children but at some point he had to draw the line on independent thinking. Where he chose to draw that line was at the point that one child was willing to intentionally attempt to murder another child spiritually thereby costing them not just a single physical life but attempting to deny them a resurrection as well. God's justice is perfect and this is where he lowers the axe, so to speak.

God did not "make" blasphemy the only unforgiveable sin. Blasphemy is itself a refusal to be forgiven.

i once heard it explained to me something like this: blaspheming the Holy Spirit is the only unforgivable sin because the Holy Spirit is the only one who can change your heart to follow God. if you blaspheme the Holy Spirit, that means you are turning from the Holy Spirit (God) anyway. blaspheme here means something like calling the Holy Spirit a liar. so if He tells you to turn to God and you think that is not the truth, that is the unforgivable sin. so if you are even worried about blaspheming the Spirit, it's not really a problem. sorry if this is really confusing and i hope it made sense! good luck!

He didn't. Blaspheming the Holy Spirit means throwing the work of Jesus on the cross back in God's Face. The Plan was that of God's Spirit. Refusing to use it, especially after He went through so much, is just plain rude. But more to the point, refusing to accept that freely given gift leaves you with no alternative means of spending eternity with God.

I hope you like living alone in the dark, with only the burning memory of your stupidity to keep you company.
