I think we lack the large standing army to do the job completely and properly. Furthermore the American people lack the colonialist mentality to pump money and resources into another nation for a long and indefinite time in order to achieve results.

Furthermore, the money for terror is coming from an ally, Saudi Arabia, and nothing will be done about that, because Saudi Arabia supplies a lot of oil to the US governments CREDITORS, the Germans, Japanese and Chinese.

Finally, how large an army, how invasive a domestic spying system and how complete a victory will ensure that no religious nut anywhere on the planet will conduct a psychotic attack? We're fighting a war against a TACTIC here, not a real world geopolitical enemy.

Yes we will win
I would like to explain this with a Eg
I think you know many great leaders like Gandhi, Lino con,Many more freedom fighter in different countries they started it with a positive aspect and they did not stop in the middle nor left it in the midway they had kept all their dreams and ambitions up to the level with a positive attitude and final after a lot of struggle and dedication they won the battle in the same way we will win the war on terrorism but still it takes some time.

I doubt it. All we can do is eliminate threats as we learn about them. The only way that the current crop of Islamic Extremists will be gotten rid of is for the peace loving majority of Islam deal with them themselves. Islam has never had a "Reformation". I am referring to the Christian Church and the changes that occurred in it's past that reduced / eliminated the incredible savagery that it had inflicted on the world under it's influence. If that were to occur perhaps things would change. If not, the Jihadists are stuck in the 13th century, and I don't think it will ever end.

Terrorism is a concept/thought, and not actually tangible. We may kill 99% of terrorists but there will always be the ideology of terrorism.

That's why I think the term "War on Terrorism" is so stupid..it'd be the equivilent of declaring war on water.

No! I think that if we defeat terrorism in one part of the world, we will look somewhereelse for it. Terrorism comes in all forms but if you mean that political stuff like our guys overseas, my answer is no although I wish it was yes.

There is plenty of terrorism right here at home to be fought if we ever decide to leave the rest of the world alone.

No. And that's the beauty of it! The military-industrial complex doesn't want it to end. They've already gotten $500,000,000,000 from U.S. taxpayers, and they'll get at least $1,000,000,000,000 before the "war on terrorism" is over (if ever).

They're laughing to the bank while enlistees continue getting blown up in Iraq and the American taxpayers continue to pay their taxes without complaint.

I think that if Bush would get out of office it would happen sooner than ever. Any other leader than him could prevent all kinds of terrorism. It's funny that both Bushs led us into war, don't you think?

Since this "WAR" is not just a metaphor, yes.

If the cowards in this country would treat this as a real war and stop acting like this is just a police event, then we can and will win.

WE HAVE BEEN ATTACKED BY TERRORIST! They have been at war with the USA and it's allies for YEARS! it is about time that we realize it and complete our task!

It's not about a "war on terror" or "fighting for freedom". It's REALLY about THIS!...

Yea , but not with this bunch of yahoos we have in office today . We need people in charge that know how to fight this new kind of war . We need to be smarter then the ones we're fighting . The US should talk to Israel about finding Bin Laden , they are very good at finding people , they found many Nazi war criminals through the years .
