Generic drugs and name brand are the same. generic came out first then companies pattened the same drug now theres also name brands. When you see Active ingrediants those are the same on both its the inactive ingrediants that are diff. For example name brands can patent the same drug just by changing the color, shape, or coating. They have the same effect bc they have the same Active ingrediants. Ive asked more than 1 pharmicist and they all gave me that answer.

read this to find out why generic costs less

Why do generic drugs cost less than brand name drugs?

A large portion of the cost of brand name drugs covers the high cost of research and development. Generic manufacturers do not have to duplicate the cost of research and marketing conducted by the original manufacturer. Therefore, the cost of the generic drug is usually less.

A generic medication is exactly the same as the brand name, only cheaper. Don't waste your money on brand medications if a generic is available. You'll be just helping rich people get richer! :)

Supposedly....sometimes, I wonder. My doctor said that meds have to have a certain percentage of the same concentration of things..so it can vary by a teeny bit and still qualify as long as its within the percentage.

Yes, they are the same. They have to be by LAW. FDA regulates all prescription meds, whether generic or not.
