We think that we have so many rights, but that's our words, not gods, according to the ones he gave us and told us not to have. If we really stopped altering the bibles teachings to our liking and just adhiring a few of its beliefs, do you think the world would be a better place? I'm not for either side

Our words but not gods?

Who do you truely believe wrote the bible? Man or God? I hate to break it to you, but your life manual wasn't written by some spirit. It was written by men who came up with the great idea to say that it was divinely inspired and wow, it's a best seller, what do you know? Who are you to presume what god said and didn't say?

As for the 7 deadly sins, sorry, I don't live under the constant threat of sins and wrongdoings that come with being religious... I have found true freedom in being an atheist, and every decision I make is based upon my moral upbringing, and the way I view right and wrong. I don't need some book to tell me how to live my life.

So, to answer your question, if I don't believe in sins, whats there to enforce?

With all due respect thats the dumbest question I have ever encountered. Do you even know what the 7 deadly sins are? I'll give you one of em. Sloth or laziness. So are you saying that the government outlaw being lazy! What would happen on sundays and labor day? I believe that you are not a christian fanatic cause even they would of come up with something better than this.

The seven deadly sins aren't directly referred to in the Bible, at least not as the "seven deadly sins." They're something that were taught and enforced by early Christians.

Not to mention, it would incredibly difficult to define and monitor when someone has violated one of these sins. Where would we draw the line between someone who eats a lot because they've been starved and someone who does so because they're a glutton? Envy is more of an internal emotion than an outward action, how would that be monitored? Same with pride, lust, and greed. Why would we arrest someone who's lazy, they're only hurting themselves, why should anyone care? And with wrath, it doesn't make sense to punish everyone who tries to get back at others.

Unfortunately the 7 deadly sins are things that take place between the ears. How do you legislate against pride, gluttony, lust, sloth, greed, envy, wrath? You can legislate against adultery if you wish, but not lust. You can legislate against obiesity, but not gluttony. There is no way to make anger illegal, only acts that stem from it. I think the world would be a better place if people controlled these inclinations, but I don't think there's any way to effectively legislate against things that take place without any physical manifestation. The seven deadly sins deal more with who you are than what you do, and there's just no way for outside parties to control that.

We could probably begin by having a few wars of words on the fact there are 10 C, an infinite number of sins, and 1 deadly sin.

If you're not for either side, then why are you suggesting the Dominionist agenda... a theocracy? Christian 'Dominionists' (Reconstructionalists, Theonomists) have largely usurped the local level political apparatus of the Republican Party, and are engaged in a sub rosa process to politically motivate moderate Christians under the false cover of religious issues such as morality and family values, under cover of front organizations like the Christian Coalition, the American Family Association and the Promise Keepers. The goal is nothing less than the takeover of all elective offices in the USA.

Their doctrine comes from the Bible, starting with the term 'dominion' at Genesis 1:28... “And God said unto them, [Adam and Eve] Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have DOMINION… over every living thing.” They interpret DOMINION as: “... a supremacy in determining and directing the actions of others or in governing politically, socially, or personally.”

They want to remake the USA as a theocracy... and they are succeeding.

Its most common form, Dominionism, represents one of the most extreme forms of Fundamentalist Christianity thought. Its followers, called Dominionists, are attempting to convert the laws of United States so that they match those of the Hebrew Scriptures. They intend to achieve this by using the freedom of religion in the US to train a generation of children via home-schooling and in private Christian religious schools. See: JESUS CAMP http://www.apple.com/trailers/magnolia/jesuscamp/trailer/ Later, their graduates will be charged with the responsibility of creating a new Bible-based political, religious and social order. One of the first tasks of this order will be to eliminate religious choice and freedom. Their eventual goal is to achieve the "Kingdom of God" in which much of the world is converted to Christianity. They feel that the power of God's word will bring about this conversion. No armed force or insurrection will be needed; in fact, they believe that there will be little opposition to their plan. People will willingly accept it. All that needs to be done is to properly explain it to them.

All religious organizations, congregations etc. other than strictly Fundamentalist Christianity would be suppressed. Nonconforming Evangelical, main line and liberal Christian religious institutions would no longer be allowed to hold services, organize, proselytize, etc. Society would revert to the laws and punishments of the Hebrew Scriptures. Any person who advocated or practiced other religious beliefs outside of their home would be tried for idolatry and executed. Blasphemy, adultery and homosexual behavior would be criminalized; those found guilty would also be executed. There are two conservative Christian pastors in Texas who have advocated the execution of all Wiccans. Ralph Reed, the executive director of the conservative public policy group the Christian Coalition has criticized Reconstructionism as "an authoritarian ideology that threatens the most basic civil liberties of a free and democratic society."

By failing to openly confront this insidious agenda, we have sown the seeds of our own destruction, while these religious wing-nuts are paving the way to Armageddon with gleeful anticipation.

i am christian, whether you believe it or not. i'm not actually sure which sins your speaking of because im not catholic though have catholic realatives, but there are some sins i believe should be enforced with a minimal penalty of death (murder if its not deffense ore justified in any way, cheating on spouse or girlfriend/boyfriend, theft with the exception of first time offenders if they are under twelve, rape, bigotry, probalbly others just dont remember them now) also, there are things other christians feel to be sins that i dont and things i feel are sins that other christians dont. really all we need to have peace is for greed and predjudice to be removed from the world.

Would you like to live in the Middle-East? Religion is big there. I heard that if a woman has sex out of wedlock out there, it's ok for family and friends to stone her to death. Do you think that would be a better place for you to live than here?

No Christians have ever advocated that. I for one would settle for the govt allowing VOLUNTARY education of the bible in public places so that atheist would be able to ask intelligent questions.
