You can't drink tea and coffee, but you can have all the caffeine that you want. I am pretty sure that the Church hasn't come out with an official stance on caffeine. There are soda's with caffeine, and chocolate sure has it. I personally try to avoid most sources of it, because I don't want it in my body. So you could get around the letter of the law, but try focusing on the spirit of the law, instead

My husband had to give up iced tea and coffee which he loved to drink more than anything. He still says it was very hard for him (it's been almost 3 years since he gave it up) sometimes because the tea was great to drink in the summer.
As far as caffeine, it is suggested we don't drink it, but it is not a "law". Almost every Mormon I know drinks some kind of caffeine - like Coke, Dr. Pepper, whatever. So that's a personal choice, basically it's the point of not being addicted to something.
Coffee and tea are a no-no, you can't get a temple recommend if you are drinking them (and you are honest about it).
The way I look at it is, the things we give up are SO worth the blessings we get for being obedient.

If you become a Mormon, no you cannot drink tea or coffee. But there has be no "law" the says that you can't drink caffeinated sodas yet. The only thing that they say is be careful because you can become addicted to caffeine. And yes you can eat chocolate!!

Like everyone has said- no, alcohol, teas, tobacco, or coffee. Coffee taste (not actual Coffee) is up to your interpretation. as far as other caffeinated drinks. Actually it's up to you, many say no, others say yes, just not a lot. Although Caffeine is an addictive drug that is not the main reason we don't drink coffee. the heat and other chemicals in coffee and tea promote ulcers and other bad affects. The caffeine is much higher then sodas, but the that's beside the point. as far as Coke and such, many do drink it. Although they don't sell it on BYU, you can still bring it in, unlike the other drinks. Coke and such is OK, in moderation and as long as your not addicted. But, many stay away just the same. I grew up with Coke, and still drink it. Same with my wife. I know other families that drink Coke or Pepsi. Hope this helps
P.S. I can't live without chocolate, and you bet it's served at church functions

If you become Mormon, you are advised to steer clear of any/most strong/hot drinks... Faith, fasting, and prayer will help you get rid of addiction to caffeine, and any addiction for that matter. The amounts of caffeine in coffee, tea, and soft drinks is addictive, and not healthy for you. Similar and other dangers come with alcohol, tobacco use, and drugs.

You can have herbal tea, but coffee isn't supposed to be drank. My husband just got baptized and he was a coffee addict!! He had headaches for about a week, but then that was it. He hasn't had coffee for over 2 months, and now will drink hot chocolate. You can have caffeine, it's in soda and chocolate. It's just that a high amount isn't good for you.

Coffee, tea and smoking are not allowed of members. Pepsi is not, but the prophet had a revelation that it was Ok since the church owned a block of board seats in COKE.

I honestly don't think Mormons are that strict. Coffee is a wonderful drink, unless you get addicted to it.
