A good rule of thumb is; If you would take a child with the same symptoms to a doctor, you should take your dog to the veterinarian..
that makes it pretty easy to decide..

It isn't "only natural" for your dog to be unable to walk. Especially it if is sudden. There may have been an injury which could include torn muscle, luxating patela, broken bone (even in feet) a bite or abcess, the list goes on. It is important to see the vet, and my rule is, the longer you leave it, the more expensive it will be. Please check that your dog does not have a tick. A common first symptom is inability to walk, particularly in the back legs. Other symptoms include gagging, dilated pupils, difficulty swallowing and lack of energy. Pull any tick off immediately, it doesn't matter how, keep tick and go straight to vet

my 6 year old dog had the same problem a couple of days ago, its only natural, your dog is becoming older and hence his/her bones are becoming weaker......you could take you dog to the vet and get a calcium injection to give some releif to the bones but theres not much you can do whne your dog reaches a certain age.

Whatever the reason, if it is recurring take him to the vet. It could be serious. At the least, call your vet and tell them the changes you've witnessed in your dog.

Is your dog over weight? When a pet gets over weight at that age it effects his joints. Hard to hold up x-tra weight after a while...he might need to go to a vet.

Well if it,s a German Shepard they are known to have bad hip's.
but that would be a little premature with a dog your age. it really depends on the breed.
