Science is a wonderful way to figure out logical things, but the thing that really binds us all together, in the spirit, is not a matter of laboratory and experiments.

Inspirational? Hmmmm. I would say more like frightening. But if you look at it differently, it was not really religion that brought them together - it was extremists.

science has also brought us nuclear/biological warfare, guns and bombs, destruction of the ozone layer, and the need to colonize other planets because the one we are currently living on will soon be destroyed. no religion necessary for that.
