I dont know what medication you used..We give a twice a day pill for a month at the shelter where I work..Along with Malasab Baths or Sprays..We dont consider them "Cured"until they have finished treatment...Only because they can pass it on to other cats and us and in that shelter enviroment we need to keep everyone healthy,,,When I started there a few months ago(I left another shelter to go to this one) There were cats running around everywhere with ringworms...I about got it beat by locking the sick ones up and treating them....Good Luck with your cat..Ringworm is more annoying than the mange! I detest that fungus!

My cat has ring worm right now. I have a cream to put on his foot where he broke out, for 3-4 weeks, and I have have to shampoo and lime dip him 2 times a week for 4 weeks. He also has to be pretty much quarantined for that long also. I think that's when it is no longer contagious from him, BUT ringworm can live in fabrics for about 14 weeks. Make sure you clean everything the cat plays on and your bedding. I sprinkled athlete's feet powder all over my carpet and then let it sit for awhile and vacuumed it up. I still haven't got it. The fungal culture has to come back negative twice before you can let them run around the room again, because that means he doesn't have it anymore.

ringworm is caused by stapholococcus aurius, a very common bacteria.. Most people, and animals, don't easily get infected by it, because it is everywhere and we already have immunity against, so; to label the poor cat 'contagious' is unfair.. If you can, just keep the cat clean and don't worry about it. If you want to worry then wash your hands after playing with it..
