Murder is theft of life, lying is theft of truth...

Anyone know where I can read this, or how coveting is based in theft?

Thanks.

OK, I really don't want a whole lot of explanations of why people think it's wrong. I just want to know if someone knows where I can find this piece that discusses stealing as the basis for all the commandments and/or sins.

When you covet after something. You probaly have a tendency to steal it. Like your neighbors husband. It is a very powerful tool that the devil likes to use against Gods people. We have to be strong and not disobey any of the Lords commandments. But it dosen't really matter what the basis of sin is. Sin is sin. The Bible calls Satan the father of lies.

I haven't heard this but I have heard that pride is the basis of all sin. I think C S Lewis a theologian taught this - because in order to commit sin against another person you have to be prideful and selfish enough to feel that you are more important than them. That your gratification is more important than the pain your sin causes by stealing lying or whatever.

I tend to believe this option.

Lack of truthfulness is the primary problem since truthfulness is the foundation of all human virtue.

"Truthfulness is the foundation of all the virtues of mankind. Without truthfulness, progress and success in all of the worlds are impossible for a soul. When this holy attribute is established in man, all the other divine qualities will also become realized."

Clever wordplay, but I don't agree with it.
