I ordered the canon SD700 from a website. They sent me the canon IXY800 IS which is the same camera sold in Japan with a different name but has no warranty outside of Japan. Anyone else faced a similar problem ? What is the best way to deal with this problem ?

You best course of action here is to return the camera for a full refund. The camera they sent you is what is called a "grey import" as a result, warranty repairs will not be covered.

If you paid comparable prices as to other retailers then return this camera for a full refund. Grey market cameras are only worth it if the discounted price is significant over the regular model.

In addition to the above answer, I hope that you paid with your credit card - as your credit card company can assist you if the seller refuse the return/refund. Good Luck.
