As a Christian, I feel the being judgemental towards people would be extremely wrong. I have been taught as a Christian, that I should show God's love. About the problem of AIDS, all we can do as Christians is to educate, and as far as what we are not doing? I feel that we could do a better job of educating people.

Here are a few things true Christians can do:
1) Stop blaming AIDS on LGBT people, and stop preaching bigotry, hatred, discrimination and therefore violence against LGBT people. A virus doesn't select who it is going to infect based on their God-given sexual orientation. If you check current statistics, there are a lot more straight people catching and spreading AIDS these days.
2) Work with AIDS and HIV+ patients to improve their quality of life. Volunteer at a food bank, or medical assitance facility, or adult day care clinic.
3) Donate money and time to AIDS/HIV organizations, including ones that educate people about disease prevention. This includes sex education.

Overall, I'd say that some 'christians' need to stop hating and start loving their fellow man. After all, isn't that what Jesus would want you to do?

Some Christians feel 'safe' from AIDS because they feel they avoid the behaviors that lead to AIDS. Not all Christians are as 'good' as they should be, so they aren't 'safe'. I think that some Christians could be more sympathetic instead of condemning to AIDS sufferers because of potentially 'un-Christian-like' behaviors.

Please define christian. Are you refering to catholics and abstinance? I don't think anyone is doing enough about aids. I think christians I go to church with are in majority, happy to be pew warmers. There are so many different and great needs in society, and God does have the answers, but we are worried to ask and get involved because then we would actually have to work at it, and we are selfish

What do you want them to do? They aren't God...they can't do anything really about it - but educate the people - like a lot of people are these days.

I mean I think everyone knows the problem of AIDS, but I don't think any one group or person can stop it.

They are already doing lots... especially to help those in foreign lands. Tonight there was a banquet for a missions outreach called Light for the Lost. One of their projects is to publish booklets to pass out in Africa and other foreign countries with a high level of AIDS... Its called "Edward the Elephant" and teaches them to keep themselves from getting AIDS. Hundreds of dollars was given for the cause.

people here have said that they need to be safe and sound , but Chrisbrown has a really good point. and we shouldnt blame God for STDs, VDs, and AIDS -- God didnt create it, but i think we all know who did. if we are faithful to our partners and stop indulging in extra/pre -- marital stuff, that would make a big difference. if at all, when no self-control is possible -- then safe sex.

truth seeker,
I knew a Christian girl with AIDS. I was part of a singles group. I gave her the biggest hug. We both felt wonderful about it. The group was very kind to her, and I knew that they were as good a people as you could find.

Like the rest of society probably.
What should they be doing that they aren't?
I think praying is appropriate here.
I'm not sure I know what kind of an answer you are looking for....

i think the pope should stop being a control freak and discontinue his ban on distributing condoms to a country where one in four people has AIDS.
