before u put anything into the microwave understand how it works...
microwaves cook food by "exciting" the water molecules inside the food. When the molecules of water is "excited" they start moving around very fast producing heat.
an experiment to prove this would be to throw a DRY cracker into the microwave and nuke it!
after a min or 2 the cracker wont be hot....it may be warm because water molecules are everywhere but it wont be as hot as ud think it'd be
so yea with that in mind....think of the H2O!!! b4 u nuke!!!

A microwave is basically a form of radiation, inside of a microwave oven, it's designed to work in a specific resonant cavity, one that allows a microwave to make a full wavelength or a multiple of the wavelength before being bounced back. You wouldn't want to put in any metallic objects, or any objects that can easily melt such as plastic jars. Ceramics and glass should be fine. There are certain drink containers you wouldn't want to put in if they're made of a cardboard, papery type material, rather like a juice box, these sometimes have metal on the inside for the lining.

You also wouldn't want to put anything live in there.

Don't Take "Easypeazy" seriously for one.

There's a lot of good answers here. I don't like to reheat fried chicken in a microwave. It tastes funny to me and tends to get rubbery. I'm an old fashioned cook so I tend to use the stove, oven and smoker more than the microwave.

I only use glass in the micro wave. Plastics will leach harmful, carcinogenic chemicals into food. I don't trust ceramics since many are made in China. The glazing on ceramic ware contains different metals including lead. The US restricts some of this but the Chinese don't. I figure better safe than sorry.

Absolutely do NOT heat up anything that is wrapped in tin foil.

Also, do not heat up anything in:

Styrofoam
Metal
Tin Foil
Certain non-microwaveable plastics

Things you can microwave food in are:

Glass
Pyrex
Most Tupperware or Tupperware like containers
Paper bags
Ceramics (plates, cups, etc...)
Campbell's soup to go containers!!!!

Just make sure that if something is prepackaged in a container, that it says somewhere on the top or side that's microwaveable. And...READ THE DIRECTIONS FOR MICROWAVING

metal anything can go, no plastic, no paper plates, if you want to microwave milk you'll need to drop a lightbulb into the glass first so it wont explode. batteries can be microwaved, it recharges them. tacos NEVER can be microwaved, cd scratches can be fixed or buffered out in the microwave...but the best ever in the microwave is.... white grapes...they will catch on fire if you split them open and put them in the microwave (thats no joke do it yourself, right now).

you can nuke a potato but poke holes in it put it in a microwave safe bowl with some water in it, you can buy microwaveable meals, bacon, you can heat up just about anything as long as you do not use aluminum foil and they have to be in a microwable bowl.you can even heat up baby formula in it. just leave the nipple off and always shake up the bottle and test it on your wrist before giving it to a baby. you can melt the cheese on a burger as long as you use a microwaveable plate or bowl. so actually you could heat up almost anything as long as it is in a microwavable bowl or plate. and again no aluminum foil unless you want the fire dept to come to your house.

Nothing can be microwaved without ruining it. Technically, nothing can be cooked without ruining it. Milk is ruined because it is pasturized to kill the germs. That process also kills the vitamins, which is why they have to PUT vitamins A & D in it. Seems like baby milk would already have vitamins in it, huh?

It's all in the technique. If it's something with cheese in it, you need to heat it for about 45 sec and then let it cool and then heat it the remainder of the time that you want. It's pretty much the same with a lot of food, but I usually do cheese so that is what I know.

Watch out with Chili, Beans blow up. Eggs blow up, Sausages blow up, blow up real good. Otherwise I put most things in the microwave for a minute and watch, if nothing happens I do it for another minute or so. But I always watch. Don't like to clean up messes.
