The RA's awol, and The lights are out because it's college, and people like to pull stupid stuff when drunk.

the "key switch" is commonly used in dorm areas, and is rather simple to bypass. All you need is a standard paper clip. bend the paper clip straight so it forms a straight line. then fold it in a "u" shape. insert it into the key switch and push upwards (similiar to the action of turning on a normal light switch). it may be tricky but it should do the trick. to purchase the standard key switch simply contact your local electrical supply house (locke, stuart c irby, ced, etc.) tell them you need one and they should be able to get it for you for less the 5 bucks. (then you could be the prankster)

Why are the lights off? Bedtime? Blackout? Are there no emergency EXIT lights or bathroom lights? FInd out where the switches are in the daytime, then you will know where they are at night. Meanwhile, maybe invest in a good flashlight and some batteries.

someone besides the RA must have the key, try asking someone important. if there off for too long go visit your school's president and tell him it is interfering with studying.

You go to college for one thing, to get a degree in your major. Not to get a degree in #@^*$# with light switches. Better yet tell the maintenance man. HOLLER!
