Rodney Stark is a sociologist of religion who makes many claims that counter our recieved notions of Christianity's initial growth. What do you think?

I don't put too much stock in the conclusions of a single scientist. He could be a quack. He talks about a lot of things for which I doubt there really are any records, such as abortions in the first century.

But some of what he says rings true.

His information is true, as far as it goes. He doesn't talk about the savagery with which Christians destroyed records, documents, and artifacts, including statuary and buildings, of the pagan religions beginning with the reign of Constantine.

Christianity was a greater moral force in comparison to the savagery of paganism. It is a lesser moral force in comparison to what is required today in a multicultural, multi-faith world.
