I have never heard a single bad word about a coton de tulear...plus they are totally adorable!

they get 12-15 lbs

This is a typical bichon-type dog. Very friendly, gentle, affectionate, and alert. Cotons are very sociable dogs that get along well with children, other dogs and animals. Very attached to its home and master - wanting always to be in their presence and trying its best to please. The Coton makes a great watchdog. Full of tricks and surprises to fulfill his master's every wish. One of their most endearing traits is a tendency to jump and walk on their hind legs. Their teasing expressions enhance any home willing to spend a few moments a day in the necessary play and grooming routines. The Coton learns quite quickly.

Most toy breed dogs are expensive. There are lots of cute dogs at the shelters who need good homes and don't cost alot.

Get a Yorkshire terror, I have 1 and they come in different sizes mine is about 6 pounds and he's great and there pretty smart if you work a little with them. Mine sleeps in pet carrier every night and during the day he's loose in the house. He's alot of fun has his little own basket of toys he plays with , doesn't chew up our things, low maintiness on grooming and loves our daughter. The price may be higher than what you want to pay though. good luck on your choice!

I prefer the toy poodle, mainly because if you spend the time with them they become very intelligent dogs. Mine has a vocabulary of words he knows, (ie. park, ride, peoples names, vacation, etc.) he was my first dog and he's small enough I can take him all over the place.

My Aunt has a Teacup Chihuahua and that about what they fit in Ha!!! It is a quiet dog too. I not sure what she paid for it. If, they sell dogs according to size they sell for about a dollar. Ha!!!
